Description

The cerebral and principled forensic pathologist Dr. Bodhi King confronts his most perplexing case yet in Flight Path, the sixth book in the series by USA Today bestselling author Melissa F. Miller.

When Bodhi King finds the first dead bird on the beach, he chalks it up to natural causes. Then he finds a second. And a third. He’s camping on the Eastern Shore to re-center himself and recommit to Buddhism, not to play veterinary pathologist. But his beliefs value all lives equally, and there appears to be an avian serial killer on the loose. Or is there?

Bodhi volunteers to uncover what’s killing the birds. What he discovers leads him to an abandoned military bunker. There, a dysfunctional family feud, a counterfeiter of communications equipment, a dying man, and a cache of seventy-five-year-old crystals provide the answer he seeks—and put his life in grave danger.

Cut off from the outside world, Bodhi pieces together the puzzle. But in order to bring the truth to light and save himself, he’ll have to reconcile his quest for nonattachment with his very real need for help and decide just how committed he is to walking the Noble Eightfold Path.

I have been a fan of Melissa Miller’s for a while now and I am always eagerly awaiting the next release. The Bodhi King series is one where I always feel like I’ve learned something while coming away with a sense that I want to be a better human. “Flight Path”, the latest in the Bodhi series, surpasses my already high expectations of Mrs. Miller’s novels. As is the case with Miller’s books, the writing depicts the vividness of the state park as well as the vibrance of the characters. I felt like I was walking next to Bodhi as he worked to discover what was killing the birds and inadvertently uncovering so much more. I thoroughly enjoyed “Flight Path”, torn between not being able to read fast enough and reading too quickly because I wanted to finish the book but also wanted to prolong the story. (I was provided an advanced copy of this, in exchange for an honest review)

FLIGHT ..PATH # 6 ...Melissa Miller Mike hearing the words his lungs had acute silicious, how did it advance so rapidly was a mystery to the doctor, Months were not enough time to finish his project, his legacy, a place in history now a different path was needed. His daughter and the extreme. plans she has made, he is unaware of. Bodhi as he tended his garden realizing his life needed the weeds, decay and debris removed so he once again could see the good in man and world. His job of forensic counseling, finding the cause of death brought closure for loved ones. Right now he was just seeing darkness, wanting time alone. Realizing it is what he prefers to see, is it darkness or light, and justice. Great plot, with several themes, poisoning, medical, murder also a more personal insight as to who Bodhi is. In spending time with him and reflecting. Well done, interesting to the last page. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
