A Season for Spies

If you’ve never read a Golden Angel historical book before, be prepared for outstanding historical romance writing, with a perfect balance of well rounded story telling and a whole lot of kinky fun! Nobody does that balance as well as Golden Angel. In this book you will find historical romance, spy intrigue and kink. Season for Spies is a fantastic final story in a series that was inspired by this book's heroine. I absolutely love how Golden Angel wrote this series, introducing us to Evie in book 1, and making her an integral theme throughout all the books of the series. It was an epic adventure that really built up for her love story with Anthony! While this book certainly can be read as a stand alone, it is so much more enriching to have read the prior books of this series (including the prequel novella, Spy Season, of her first meeting with Anthony) and was a huge treat to meet up with characters from other Golden Angel series. This book was filled with delightful Easter eggs! I was heartbroken for the story to come to an end, but as Golden Angel often does, she leaves us with a teaser of more to come in the next spin-off series. I cannot wait!!!

Evie and Anthony finally get their story and it is full of suspense and steam and all you can want in their long awaited story. I love how Evie stays strong and sure of herself despite all she has been through and the banter between her and Anthony.

Did not disappoint! I have been eagerly awaiting reading Evie’s story and I absolutely loved it. She is such a spitfire! Evie’s got tricks up her sleeves for days. Captain Browne definitely has his hands full with this one. These two couldn’t stay away from each other if they had to.

This is the first of the series I’ve read, but will definitely go back and read the others. One thing I can always count on,with Golden Angel, is the spice is always right. I like the characters, the storyline and it’s my favorite time period. Overall, it’s a great book and will always read anything this author writes. If you like historicals with spice, this book is for you.

Yeah this is the last part of a Series of Historical Romance with Spanking that Centers on Spies. I am a huge fan of Golden Angel and I have read almost every thing she has published that is available in ebook format. I read this book because I have an Advanced Reader Copy, and I want to share with others about it. If you like your Historical Romance smutty then this is something you would be interested in especially if you like spanking and other such activities. I really loved the smutty scenes in this book and I thought that Golden had the best butt stuff scene I have read lately. I don’t like spoilers, so there won’t be any in my review, but this is part of a series and for best enjoyment you are advised to start with a Season For Treason (Deception and Discipline book 1) and read the next 2 books before reading this one. There is a wonderful group of characters that I am sure you will love because I love them, there is a lot of smutty content that you are sure to enjoy if you like smutt with your Romance. Also there is a great mystery element as to who the spy is that is finally resolved in this book. Also there is a very nice HEA to this book as well as to the others in this fine series.

This book was such fun from beginning to end. Having read the novella first, I was already hooked and wanted to see where things went with these characters. Golden Angel didn’t disappoint. Evie is such a wonderful character, multi-faceted, well rounded, and believable in her stubbornness and resistance to the love she feels. Anthony is a dream of a man. The chemistry between them and the natural push and pull really works. Loved the whole journey and all the side characters. Lots of laughs, some tensions, and oh la la excellent spicy scenes. Highly recommend. Golden Angel is quickly becoming s favorite author of mine, and I can’t wait to read the rest of her books! Oh, and yes, this is one of the last or latest books in a series, but it doesn’t detract from it to read it out of order. There is familiarity in the way the other characters are referred to and their history in the couples, but it doesn’t overly spoil anything or leave you confused to not have read the other books in the series yet. Honestly, I have always sort of preferred that in my romance series. Inevitably I seem to find them out of order, so it works nicely for me that way. 10/10 would recommend! Will definitely be reading the rest of the series too.

A Season for Spies is the fifth book in the Deception and Discipline series. The romance could be read as a stand alone, or after the prequel novella, but the storyline arcs across the whole series. Evie and Anthony have a history that no one else knows about, but as they’re forced to work closely together to capture the traitor, will their hearts fall victim to love? Oh. My. Goodness!! I have been dying to get my hands on this book ever since I read the first book in this series, and it absolutely did not disappoint!! I absolutely adored this book, the connection between Evie and Anthony, and honestly, I loved Evie and her unlikely band of fantastic lady spies. Evie was everything I could have hoped for, as we finally got to know her a little better. We see that all she really wanted was to be seen by her family. She’s not a traditional lady and hates that she must be one to fit their needs, but she wants her ideas to be validated and appreciated. She’s so strong, but has a vulnerable side that made me want to just give her a hug. She’s so independent, but I loved that she was able to let go enough with Anthony to offer her submission. Anthony was perfect for her because he saw her right from the very beginning, or well, mostly, haha. He knew the importance of her contributions, he knew that she could handle the darker sides of life, and he let her participate, even when he didn’t want to. He was strong enough to handle her strength and independence, but made sure to keep her safe and loved. I seriously loved them together, loved their passion and connection and how well they truly worked together. There’s drama, there are finally some answers, and I did not want to put this book down once I started. So, so good! I have loved this series from the beginning (seriously might be a new favorite), and adored this addition! I want more!

While this book could be read as a stand-alone book, it is a great way to wrap up the storyline! Evie is one of the most entertaining characters, and she doesn’t fail to bring a little naughtiness with her wherever she goes! If you’re hoping for a kinky historical romance without an overwhelming amount of tropes, this book is a must!

In a time of women being oppressed we have Evie…… Evie is a amazing and beautiful and feisty and did I say amazing Anthony is a wonderful counter to Evie. He is an alpha male who only wants Evie safe …… but she makes him work for it. Hands down the best of the bunch of this series. Could not put it down! Make sure you have time to read uninterrupted you are going to love every sassy, kinky, stubborn, exhilarating bit of the ride!

I jumped right into this book, having not read the previous books in the series. I have read the domestic discipline quartet and I loved that there were some cameos from some of those characters too! Since I didn’t read the other books, that combined with the large cast of characters had me a little confused as to the whose who during parts of the book, but even that didn’t heavily detract from the story. If you’re familiar with historical costuming at all, there’s a phrase that’s pretty common in those circles that goes something like “historical dress, not historical values” and I think Golden Angel as an author embodies that concept in historical fiction. Her characters are both realistically living in past times, and also likeable when viewing them as a 30-something in modern times. If you’re into historical fiction with a kinky twist, definitely pick up as many of her books as you can. As I figured out by reading this book as a standalone, you can easily pick them up out of order too, as each book focuses on a different couples story and the characters from other books become side characters.
