Description

A hookup doesn’t have to mean just once. Right?

Brandon Smith
Keep it easy. Keep it fun. Never hold on. That sums up my relationship goals, with hockey teams and with women. I learned early on that love and family equals fights and heartache. So I’m always moving on to the next team, the next hookup, before things turn sour.

When I meet Lola at a tropical beachside bar, it’s the perfect set up for a little hot vacation sex. She’s gorgeous, funny, and most importantly, leaving for home tomorrow. But this time, I have a sinking feeling I’ll be sorry to see her go.

Lola McGrath
I knew after that night in Aruba I’d never see Brandon again. That’s fine; I’m too busy vying for the corner office to make time for relationships. But when our paths cross again in New York, our sizzling attraction leads to “just one more night”. Then another. And another.

We never meant to become friends with this many benefits. Especially the one neither of us ever expected—or thought we wanted.

This was fantastic and funny. I loved the pick up lines and hook up stories. The characters were fantastic and the story has humor and modern romance.

Loved the story! I was beginning to wonder if both of them would get their act together.

You don't expect to run into your vacation hookup once you go home but that's exactly what happened to Brandon and Lola. The attraction between the two is still there and why not enjoy it a bit more with no strings. Except strings always seem to attach themselves despite good intentions. While this was good and I liked Brandon and Lola, it was also pretty heavy and didn't have enough of a romantic connection as I'd hoped for these two. The attraction was there for sure, it just wasn't very romantic. I was looking forward to more of a lighthearted, fun read along with that romance and that's the only reason I didn't love this more. I did love seeing the other guys and their kids. Brandon was so cute with one of their daughters.

Four and a half stars Good Hands by Kelly Jamieson is part of her Bears Hockey series. Lola McGrath and Brandon Smith meet in Aruba on vacation. They don’t expect anything beyond their one (incredibly hot) night, but their paths seem to continue to cross. They are both focused on their demanding careers and neither has the best familial examples so they’re not exactly looking for a relationship much less the love of their lives. Funny how things can work out… Kelly Jamieson’s writing is engaging and her characters’ feelings ring true. Their chemistry and growing sense of connection despite their best efforts make for a satisfying, page-turning read. Seeing their friends and families rally around to provide needed support and reality checks is also a real pleasure. While part of a series, Good Hands stands alone well. Can’t wait for more!

Good Hands is the second story in Kelly Jamieson’s Bears Hockey Series. This is Brandon Smith and Lola McGrath’s story. And it is a great addition to this series. From the beginning this had me laughing-out-loud, with their flirtatious banter as well as on fire with their hot and intense connection between the sheets. Lola McGrath has been looking for a vacation fling while she is in Aruba with her friends, and on her last night she finally meets Brandon. They both agree even though they are from NYC that it is one night and oh what a night it is, one that they won’t be forgetting any time soon. But it seems fate has other ideas and in a city with millions they run into each other and decide to hook-up again. But when it happens some more times they finally agree to be friends with benefits, no commitments, no strings, since both of them don’t have time for dating with their busy work schedules. But can they keep their emotions from coming into play? These two are perfect for each other. Their attraction is so strong and their chemistry sizzles. I loved how they break down the walls between them and become so important to one another. And although there are some surprises in store for these two. Their HEA brought tears to my eyes! Loved this one!!
  • Honesty!

I really enjoy reading Ms Jamieson’s books and this is no different. One of the things that I liked was the honesty and how up front both Brandon and Lola were about their “relationship”. Of course, that was until their relationship seemed to become a real thing, then they tried to avoid it, until they couldn’t. I really felt Lola’s dedication to her job. As a woman, she has a tough road ahead of her in trying to advance in her career. They both had to have some honest conversations with people that they love to be able to take the next step. One of the things that I like about reading about hockey is the camaraderie of the players and their families.

This is part of a series but easily stands alone. This story features Brandon and Lola. They both live in NYC and don't know each other until they meet on vacation and have one hot night together. The story then picks up later when they run into each other in NYC. They both are very committed to their careers and their jobs and love them. They have no time to date but to hook up, they both think is an awesome thing. Its a very casual thing until... Sorry no spoilers here. I will say that I loved how in tune with each other they are. Thru mutual hookups they find they like each other and end up as friends. Life gets complicated and the question is can they open to each other. I will say they both had to learn how to let each other into their hearts and minds and how to share with each other. I felt it was a more realistic romance in that it was not perfect and it took some real work and wanting of each other to really want to let each other in and be more than just casual. I received a complimentary early release copy of this e-book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.
