This book for educators provides a lesson idea for using primary sources and Apple Tools. With a focus on the Health and Wellness theme of Black History Month March, 2022, the book uses primary sources from the Library of Congress to highlight Provident Hospital in Chicago. The book models ways teachers can engage students in the creation of Maps place cards or sidebars highlighting locations that contributed to Black History achievements. This lesson example uses Provident Hospital. During the 1940s the Farm Security Administration/Office of War Information took photos at Providence recording important health services at a time when segregation and discrimination denied many African Americans hospitalization and health care.
