The Good Part is Missing
3By GoodyHogSome of Rivers Siddons books are among my favorite and her voice comes through often in this interesting story. However, it feels a little like she cheated by skipping to an epilogue like when a mom skips the good part of a bedtime story because it is late...and they all lived happily ever after.What??
2By Longie, but goodie,Sorry to say, but this book misses the mark. The story line doesn't flow or connect us to the characters. One minute the author describes grandmother's wedding/honeymoon as reviewed by her granddaughter and the reader can not tell if she is writing a book about it or complaining. The mother and daughter relationship falls short every time. Thayer's sister really plays no significant roll in the story. Too much about the red hair and references to,"flames, fire and heat.". The author doesn't even give a reason why the husband goes off the deep end. The guy had a pretty nice life, wife, job, FREE HOME and her grandmother's money. That's just CRAZY GOOD, Not Bad! Try again. Enjoy all the Irish poetry in the world, it won't make you NUTS...bored maybe, but hardly Nuts. Thank you, Susan R.Seriously?

4By Janern06I have read all of Siddons books. . . I love her writing, but this book was a huge disappointment - undeveloped characters and sadly lacking story line. I won't be recommending this for book club or passing it on to anyone to read - Big waste of time.A good story that went off the tracks
2By blueblondeThe first two thirds of the book is a compelling, well-written story. The ending is a completely bizarre twist that has little to do with the rest of the book. It feels as though the author didn't know how to end the story, so she threw in an odd, disjointed ending. Disappointing.
