Description
From the bestselling author of About a Boy, A Long Way Down and Dickens and Prince, a wise and hilarious novel about love, heartbreak, and rock and roll.
“I've always loved Nick Hornby, and the way he writes characters and the way he thinks. It's funny and heartbreaking all at the same time.”—Zoë Kravitz
Rob is a pop music junkie who runs his own semi-failing record store. His girlfriend, Laura, has just left him for the guy upstairs, and Rob is both miserable and relieved. After all, could he have spent his life with someone who has a bad record collection? Rob seeks refuge in the company of the offbeat clerks at his store, who endlessly review their top five films; top five Elvis Costello songs; top five episodes of Cheers.
Rob tries dating a singer, but maybe it’s just that he’s always wanted to sleep with someone who has a record contract. Then he sees Laura again. And Rob begins to think that life with kids, marriage, barbecues, and soft rock CDs might not be so bad.

1By LeslieleoOr perhaps you have to be British. Not really funny either. Just depressing.High Fidelity
4By ChassiesparrowGood book! Fun reading! I loved the narrators sense of humor and British terminology. He is a really screwed up middle age male who cannot decide whether he wants to marry his girlfriend but is heartbroken when she moves out of their apartment. He owns a failing business and is still trying to decide what to do with is life.Great Book
5By Emmet AloysiusI read this many years ago but remember how much I enjoyed one of Hornby's early works. A fun read! EAFOne of my favorites...
5By Yoshiod9Great characters that matched exactly how I felt back when I first read it (I'll die alone and never fall in love with anyone ever again). The music, the mix tapes, the TopFive lists, and many other things make this the perfect book. Love it. Love it. Love it.A young man novel!
5By oarmandoA great young and urban man novel! Nice relation to music, movies and routine...Hi Entertainment!
5By Joe F.Quite simply, this is one of the funniest and most entertaining books I have ever read. Anyone who has ever experienced the highs and lows of relationships and loves music will relate to this story and will find themselves laughing out loud at Hornby's insights and wit. Everyone that I have recommended this to loved it!
