48 Liberal Lies About American History
By Larry Schweikart

Description
A historian debunks four-dozen PC myths about our nation's past.
Over the last forty years, history textbooks have become more and more politically correct and distorted about our country's past, argues professor Larry Schweikart. The result, he says, is that students graduate from high school and even college with twisted beliefs about economics, foreign policy, war, religion, race relations, and many other subjects.
As he did in his popular A Patriot's History of the United States, Professor Schweikart corrects liberal bias by rediscovering facts that were once widely known. He challenges distorted books by name and debunks forty-eight common myths. A sample:
• The founders wanted to create a wall of separation between church and state
• Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation only because he needed black soldiers
• Truman ordered the bombing of Hiroshima to intimidate the Soviets with atomic diplomacy
• Mikhail Gorbachev, not Ronald Reagan, was responsible for ending the Cold War
America's past, though not perfect, is far more admirable than you were probably taught.
Reviews
Fantastic book, well researched. A shining beacon of light
5By ZwerlieAll of the one star reviews here are by liberal shills doing their best to bring down the rating. Read their reviews, not a single rebuttal to any argument from the book is provided. Not one example is given, simply platitudes and vitriol. I liked this book immensely. Larry Schweikart has a razor sharp intellect & has done his homework. It's one that will make you think and if you are open minded, see things in a new light.Silly liberal reviewers
5By jackballOnce again not a single example is provided or elaborated on. What lie? One question: did capitalism cause the Great Depression?Outstanding
5By tjdchiUnlike they very "classy" reviews listed before me, I found this book to be quite fascinating. It has a obvious partisan perspective, but I did not find it to be misleading or untrue. I'm a fierce independent and consider myself to be responsible enough to fact check and further research before forming my own opinion. I highly recommend this book. What a joke.
1By bougiepickleThe author has a problem with historical accuracy and will do anything to "prove" his distorted view of America.Lies
1By QuestionWithBoldnessThis book is bogus, with quotations taken far out of context. From a mouth that spews feces.
