Book Three in the Magnificent Dune Chronicles—the Bestselling Science Fiction Adventure of All Time
The Children of Dune are twin siblings Leto and Ghanima Atreides, whose father, the Emperor Paul Muad’Dib, disappeared in the desert wastelands of Arrakis nine years ago. Like their father, the twins possess supernormal abilities—making them valuable to their manipulative aunt Alia, who rules the Empire in the name of House Atreides.
Facing treason and rebellion on two fronts, Alia’s rule is not absolute. The displaced House Corrino is plotting to regain the throne while the fanatical Fremen are being provoked into open revolt by the enigmatic figure known only as The Preacher. Alia believes that by obtaining the secrets of the twins’ prophetic visions, she can maintain control over her dynasty.
But Leto and Ghanima have their own plans for their visions—and their destinies....
Reviews
Not as good as the first two
4By BW1562It took me longer to finish this one compared to the first two books. It felt a little too slow at times and I didn’t like some characters. A major character death in the climax had me shook to the point that I almost cried though. The final 25% really picked up the pace and had me glued to the page until the very endFirst two were better
2By katrina_2015022018It gets weirdReally fun read
5By Riles264Loved this book, it has been my favorite of the series so far.An Epic Dune Story
4By JensssuuuhhhWhile this installment brings a lot more creativity to the story, I feel as though some parts are drawn out, could have been the same length as the second and would have been way more compelling. This doesn’t take away from its grandeur, this book is very much everything you loved about the series and more!Keeps getting better
5By Corrosive 7The final book in the story of Paul (as far as I know) and the beginning of a new chapter that opens up the universe of dune to endless possibilities. There was nothing in this book I didn’t enjoy and I’m excited to continue frank herberts journey.Even better than the last
5By SavhgdghffyncvHaving read only up to this book in the Dune chronicles, Children of Dune is by far the best.No words
5By Dabro -I don’t have any words to describe this bookFun but confusing
4By SabbanatPersonally, I find these books intriguing, but the character development often jumps, as opposed to gradual change. And sometimes it’s hard to link. I really I Very much enjoyed the read. But I did slow at some points.A review
4By Beat bikeTell ‘em yourself.Excellent!
5By CommendedSphinxBlew my mind on where the story went!Simply amazing
5By Blanco_Diablo_37The dune saga continues. Readers will not be disappointed.Wow…
5By JungleboyacfUnbelievably good read, saw the movie became obsessed and now I’m three books deep (Messiah). Such an immersive universe you can get lost in. This for me is on par with Tolkien and Lewis in the world of fantasy.A helluva read!
5By missbinxThis follows the Atreides children and their struggle with the legacy left for them. I’ve been devouring this series and this book was an AMAZING follow-up to Dune: Messiah. I almost put down the whole series at the end of Dune: Messiah, but now I can’t wait to read the next one and see where things lead. I’m genuinely grieving Paul Atreides in a way I didn’t expect to come from a book or two.Wow
5By Water Chestnutt IIIChildren of Dune is excellent. I found it to be a more interesting, and more excellent follow up from Dune Messiah.Fantastic reading
5By Morven ChanFantastic! Masterpiece it is! It inspires me to complete the whole series.Children of Dune
5By KevRathArguably the best book of the series.3rd book is so rich and entertaining
5By bryc123I’ve read the first three books in the last three months, and this one is my favorite so far. Of course the 1st book is legendary in its own right…but this one has so many plot layers and even better character development & payoff. The twins are fascinating and The Preacher element makes it all the more exciting. At times the inner monologue (and dialogue) can be drawn out and overly meandering, but the twists and turns - and literal character ‘transformations’ - keep you turning the pages.A Good Read
4By Linklex7A pretty good Dune sequel. It helps to read this immediately after Dune Messiah as those two books tend to feel like one story. The pacing gets a little slow and dense during the 2nd act but picks up again during the 3rd act. I enjoyed my time reading this.Excellent read...
