4By trinimamiThis has been my first read from this author and overall I think it has been very well done. She kept a good pace with her plot and outlined her characters well. Set in 19th century New York, The Luxe has many of the themes that fans of Jane Austen for example have come to love-family, duty, love. It's a good vacation read.Great series!!
5By marliiee18The Luxe series area MUST READ!!!! I've read the books 3 times and seem to never get enough (I'm going for a 4th time and buying them in ebook formats). The story, the plot, the characters are all involved in who is who in society. I would've loved for Will to not have died, but Teddy's love and sacrifice for Elizabeth is just as great as Will's. Thank you Anna Godbersen for writing such a great series!!!Please tell me there's more!!
5By Nat8888I just finished the last book in The Luxe series. What a deliciously splendid cast of characters. They were all so different and there were times when I hated some but I grew to love them all! And to set the scene in turn of the century New York! Gowns, parties and socialite scandal - what could be better?? I just could not put these books down. The author really did her research for this. Every detail was covered, right down to the fabrics that were popular during the era. As a clothing designer, I'm very impressed with her knowledge of fine materials. Her descriptions of each gown design and accessory were so detailed I could just picture each one in my head. I hope there will be more on Diana's character because she was by far my favorite. Anyone who doesn't like this series has no appreciation for good literature. Anna did a great job and she deserves the glory. She's a breath of fresh air in this modern chaos of authors who become famous regardless of their lack of talent [cough] Twilight! I've already absorbed myself in Bright Young Things. I can't wait to see what happens in the roaring 20's!Best Book Ever!!!!!!

This book also makes u think that ur there during that time period. This book is probably a 13+ age range. I read this book in about a day and it was soo good. Right now I'm in the middle of the 2nd book rumors, and it's as good as the first one . U hav not read a good book until u hav read this one!!!!!! :D
