The movement’s yearning for apocalyptic violence and its assault on dispassionate, intellectual inquiry are laying the foundation for a new, frightening America.
Drawing from interviews and coverage of events such as pro-life rallies and weeklong classes on conversion techniques, Hedges examines the movement's origins, its driving motivations, and its dark ideological underpinnings. Today's "Christian Right", according to Chris Hedges, bears a terrifying resemblance to the fascist regime Lewis was writing about. But whether or not you think the "Christian right" is fascist, this book is a solemn warning about the fragility of the freedoms we take for granted. In other words, Hedges warns us that if we are not vigilant, American fascism CAN happen here!Exceptional

5By GdCAThose who ignore history are doomed to repeat it...or words to that effect. Read this book with the recent history...from 1917 through 1945...of Europe in mind. The names and places have changed but the attitude and philosophy hasn't. A Christian Reich is festering.
