The #1 True Crime Bestseller of All Time—7 Million Copies Sold
In the summer of 1969, in Los Angeles, a series of brutal, seemingly random murders captured headlines across America. A famous actress (and her unborn child), an heiress to a coffee fortune, a supermarket owner and his wife were among the seven victims. A thin trail of circumstances eventually tied the Tate-LeBianca murders to Charles Manson, a would-be pop singer of small talent living in the desert with his "family" of devoted young women and men. What was his hold over them? And what was the motivation behind such savagery? In the public imagination, over time, the case assumed the proportions of myth. The murders marked the end of the sixties and became an immediate symbol of the dark underside of that era.
Vincent Bugliosi was the prosecuting attorney in the Manson trial, and this book is his enthralling account of how he built his case from what a defense attorney dismissed as only "two fingerprints and Vince Bugliosi." The meticulous detective work with which the story begins, the prosecutor's view of a complex murder trial, the reconstruction of the philosophy Manson inculcated in his fervent followers…these elements make for a true crime classic. Helter Skelter is not merely a spellbinding murder case and courtroom drama but also, in the words of The New Republic, a "social document of rare importance."

I was going to buy this until I read it didn’t contain pictures. I’m glad I read the reviews first. Maybe this doesn’t have any pictures because it’s an ebook??? I don’t know. It shouldn’t make a difference.Images are nor present

5By Bulldog80Vince Bugliosi is a great courtroom attorney and a great author. I don't understand why IBooks has two versions of the same book.THE BEST TRUE CRIME BOOK THERE IS
5By StarSharonThis is the best true crime book I have ever read. Bugliosi is a fantastic writer and his insider perspective on this case provides insight like no one else can.I'm posting this from my bf's iPad but I just couldn't wait
5By ScammedGuy2015I'm so depressed to be nearing the end of this fantastic read. I knocked most of it out in a few nights, and I've been stretching out the last few pages for what seems like forever because I'm absolutely dreading the end. It's honestly one of the most exciting and incredible accounts I have ever read. I read a list of the best True Crime books and this was on the list. I almost overlooked it. I see the name "Manson" and sometimes write it off because there are so many biographies and true crime books about his story, but this particular book is haunting. In great detail, the reader is invited to explore and revel in the depravity of the Manson "Family." Absolutely fascinating and well-written, Bugliosi's experiences are invaluable to anyone who has any interest in true crime, the Manson story, or cults in general. I would recommend this book to anyone with a pulse.Awesome
5By ThmsjskienrnI have only read the sample but it was so good I'm going to buy it. Digital and Hard copy's! Best book I have ever read!!!! A must readDO NOT PURCHASE from iBooks!
1By Frigid_is that nickname taken? The iBooks version of Helter Skelter is missing 50+ pages of pictures. This only seems acknowledged AFTER you've purchased the book. Go get a hardcopy of this book for more book and less money.Great read!
5By Britelite06One of my favorite books. So good it gave me nightmares
5By AlphaKatI read this a few years ago and it was very good. It's basically broken into 2 parts, the first is a very matter of fact retelling of what lead up to the murders and the second is written in a more personal style relating of the trial. My only suggestion would be to not make this your bedtime reading material, I had quite a few, shall we say 'interesting', dreams thanks to this book. But still a wonderful read that cuts through all the Hollywood BS and gives the real story.Helter Skelter is an amazing read!
5By Merry Go Bye ByeIncredible book. I could not put it down. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to read about the murder investigations and the ensuing trial. Very detailed and interesting read. The book shows how the prosecutor builds his case against Manson and the familyOnly Good Read on This Case
