Description

The long-awaited autobiography of Keith Richards, guitarist, songwriter, singer, and founding member of the Rolling Stones.

With The Rolling Stones, Keith Richards created the songs that roused the world, and he lived the original rock and roll life.

Now, at last, the man himself tells his story of life in the crossfire hurricane. Listening obsessively to Chuck Berry and Muddy Waters records, learning guitar and forming a band with Mick Jagger and Brian Jones. The Rolling Stones's first fame and the notorious drug busts that led to his enduring image as an outlaw folk hero. Creating immortal riffs like the ones in "Jumping Jack Flash" and "Honky Tonk Women." His relationship with Anita Pallenberg and the death of Brian Jones. Tax exile in France, wildfire tours of the U.S., isolation and addiction. Falling in love with Patti Hansen. Estrangement from Jagger and subsequent reconciliation. Marriage, family, solo albums and Xpensive Winos, and the road that goes on forever.

With his trademark disarming honesty, Keith Richard brings us the story of a life we have all longed to know more of, unfettered, fearless, and true.

Keith and I are almost exactly tens years apart by birth, with Keith being the eldest. I have always loved this band above all others. I took my twelve year old daughter to see "The Biggest Bang" at the Angels Stadium in Anaheim, CA. It is a cherished moment in time. God Bless You Keith, and all of your lovely family and friends! Awesome reading! Better than I had hoped for. Thanks for sharing your life, Keith. The truth was better than all of the media fantasy written over the years. What a ride!
  • An Exeptionally Great Autobiography.

Keith remembers it all, and tells all, in this romp of a memoir. 'Life' stands as one of the finest works of Rock & Roll journalism I've ever read. Forget any presuppositions you may have had, Richards writes with flair and eloquence, and the only time I felt disappointed was when I turned the last page. Long Live Rock & Roll, and Long Live Keith Richards. May he live long enough to give us 'Life, Volume II'. A great read! I couldn't recommend it more highly.

Not since the Miles autobiography has there been a life's account quite as colorful, not to mention learning about some really special music...

I had been waiting for this book for a long time. I had always been in awe of the chops and licks Keith Richards puts down, how he could put songs together that just made me want to put a fist through the wall with all the emotion it dredged up inside of you. So, when this book came to press I was really curious, wondering if this was going to be like some Stones biopics, views from people who were on the periphery, who may or may not have an axe to grind. "Life", was a superb read thanks to Mr. Richards narrative prose. It was a strange feeling.... I think of Keith Richards as a hero. I means the things this guy has done blow me away. Now the corker is I'm starting the book, expecting to be read to by the author....instead, this guy just opens his heart to me and shares his life! I have never read anything like it! I bought the "Enhanced Version" through iBooks. What was really cool was that Keith was actually reading the last chapter....and not word for word, but sharing it....as if he was sitting next to you shooting the breeze! I remember an old Abby Hoffman book I "acquired" when I was a kid, called "Steal This Book!". It's probably illegal and out of print now with the way things are. If I could put a subtitle on "Life" by Keith Richards, it would be "Get This Book!" I mean come on... Do you really think Keith Richards would steer you wrong? It's wonking brilliant. Thanks Keith.
