Description

Now a blockbuster original series on Prime Video! Will Belly choose Jeremiah or Conrad?

Belly has an unforgettable summer in this stunning start to the Summer I Turned Pretty series from the New York Times bestselling author of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, Jenny Han.

Some summers are just destined to be pretty.

Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer—they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one wonderful and terrible summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

Read this after watching the show. The writing isn’t great and not a whole lot happens. Kind of surprised it was made a tv show, but that being said, the TV show is highly addictive.

Definitely a younger genre. The characters are simple and the storyline predictable. I read because of all the hype but I was honestly bored and craving more depth to the characters. Han is a good writer - but not a great storyteller.

I absolutely LOVED this book. It was great and fun! Even though Belly could be a little annoying at times. I heard great things about this book and I guess you could say it lived up to my expectations! I don’t really understand why Conrad is so awesome though. He’s a little mean and annoying at times. So team Jeremiah here, I love how much he cares about Belly! I didn’t really like the cursing or smoking and stuff, but not everything can be perfect. I don’t think this book should be for 7th and up because I’m in 7th grade and this book is probably not something I should be reading… But I definitely think like high school and up! I don’t want to hurt anyones feelings here, but can we please not insult the author and tell them they shouldn’t have written this book because you just don’t have the same opinion. Like I don’t like graphic novels (no hate!) but I know a lot of people who do. Everyone thinks differently and that’s okay. Not trying to hate here JUST wanted to say. Anyways this book was great and I can’t wait to watch the show soon!!! ❤️🌹❤️🌹

The book basically did the opposite of show don’t tell which is like the #1 rule in writing. Everyone always says that TSITP is amazing but tbh it’s really not. I didn’t like the characters and I don’t really understand what everyone sees in this. I probably would have enjoyed this more had I read it before other books like The Inheritance Games and Powerless.

This book is so much more then what people say. As someone with friends who have read the book or seen the show I could not have imagined how much I would love it. I’m so happy I didn’t watch the show first and now I’m off to the next Summer I Turned Pretty book! 🩷

Amazing. It reminds me of how I take a trip to lake powell every summer. I’ve reread this book probably over 10 times. I am obssesed. It has good romance, and whereas I usually don’t enjoy a love triangle, I didn’t mind this one. I think what’s to love most about this book is the feeling of it. It feels like the exact way you would invision a perfect summer. Hands down my favorite summer series ever!
  • A great series.

This is an addicting book series. I devoured all three books very quickly, the author does an amazing job of writing in a way that makes you want to keep flipping through the pages eagerly. It’s romantic, it’s sweet, it’s relatable for girls. I also love that there’s a tv series out, to help bring the book to life.

This book was amazing. I also decided to watch the tv show to see which one I liked better. All I gotta say is that it's a perfect summery book with all kinds of emotions. It's the perfect roller coaster. Can't wait to read the next ones. It's the perfect cliche book that you just can't seem to be able to put down. Also, it's one of those books where you actually WANT to be the character. Own a beach house, go there every summer with friends who are like family, have good memorable times, and more. I would recommend this book to anyone, in a heartbeat.

So I had to read this book for a book club and I’m not even halfway through the book (I’m not finishing it!) before I realized that this is not appropriate for children grades 7 and up. I’m 20 and it’s way too explicit, even for me! The story about the main character wanting a boy to notice her is nauseating and cringy in itself, but what’s worse is that, throughout the entire book, there’s cursing, swearing, drinking, smoking, doing drugs, talk about kissing (all the time), and explicit talk about women’s breasts! The only thing I haven’t read in the book yet (and I’m not saying it might be in there somewhere) is about intimate relations between men and women. This is a filthy young adult novel that portrays a young, vain girl who is constantly making bad decisions and comes from a divorced and dysfunctional family trying to have relationships with boys of another dysfunctional family who don’t even care about the dignity of a woman. This book lowers the dignity of men and women, girls and boys, to that of animals. The overall story of two families enjoying summer together is nice, but it’s not worth my time or yours. So, if you wanna ruin yours or your kid’s hearts, minds, and value/dignity as a person, feel free to read this book, but if not, don’t even give this book a second look. I can clearly see this author must have had problems in her own life and she should be ashamed that she even wrote a book with children and young people even in mind. Young minds need to be filled with good morals and examples that look at men and women with the utmost dignity and modesty and it’s books like these that create the depraved society we live in. Please do not read this book!
