Description
#1 NATIONAL BESTSELLER • Far more than a superb memoir about the highest levels of professional tennis, Open is the engrossing story of a remarkable life. • "Agassi’s memoir is just as entrancing as his tennis game.” —Time
“Honest in a way that such books seldom are.” —The New York Times
Andre Agassi had his life mapped out for him before he left the crib. Groomed to be a tennis champion by his moody and demanding father, by the age of twenty-two Agassi had won the first of his eight grand slams and achieved wealth, celebrity, and the game’s highest honors. But as he reveals in this searching autobiography, off the court he was often unhappy and confused, unfulfilled by his great achievements in a sport he had come to resent.
Agassi writes candidly about his early success and his uncomfortable relationship with fame, his marriage to Brooke Shields, his growing interest in philanthropy, and—described in haunting, point-by-point detail—the highs and lows of his celebrated career.

A candid life story
5By Looney007Better than a front row seat at Wimbledon. Andre lays it all out and shares his thoughts throughout his early childhood, tennis career, and his two marriages. Now that the book has been out for many years and you can see the love and support Andre has for his own children without any intense demands and expectations. A good read and despite all the ups and downs he ended up grounded in a great relationship. There’s hope for all of us.Good story
5By 唦唦唦Recently, I finished reading Agassi’s autobiography, Open. Agassi had two marriages, and his first one reminded me of my parents. In his first marriage, he and his wife were disconnected from each other’s careers. He didn’t care about the entertainment world, and his wife didn’t understand tennis, which led to a lack of deeper communication between them. By the end, they stopped caring about each other but still had to pretend to be the perfect couple in front of the world. My parents were the same. My dad loves drinking, and every time he got drunk, he’d argue with my mom, sometimes even becoming violent. I could tell they didn’t love each other anymore, but whenever it was a holiday or a family gathering, they’d always act like the perfect couple in front of everyone, which really surprised me. I hope that in the future, I can be an honest and brave person. If I like something, I’ll say it, and if I don’t, I’ll say that too. I want to be able to face the negative things in life openly, instead of pretending for the sake of appearances.Great Read
5By MindyB61This book came highly recommended by friends who read and on reviews and did not disappoint. Great story!!I terrific read — even if tennis isn’t your thing!
5By DoubleFaultBobThe behind-the-scenes stories and antidotes were intriguing. On the flip side, some of the play-by-play match reports could have been trimmed down (or eliminated) without curbing my enjoyment of the book at all. This book was beautifully written. Charming and heartbreaking at the same time.
5By KathyinRochester I’ve never read an autobiography about a tennis player, but this was wonderful. It’s really cool to get inside the head of Agassi as he battles through so many matches and I love the love story between he and Stephanie. The prep school he built in Vegas this crazy cool. The Master Quest
5By jhdsssshhjjAlthough our games our different, the opponent is the same. “The mind is restless, Krishna, impetuous, self-willed, hard to train: to master the mind seems as difficult as to master the mighty winds.” Thank you for sharing, thank you.Incredible
