Description
The magical saga of the women behind King Arthur's throne.
“A monumental reimagining of the Arthurian legends . . . reading it is a deeply moving and at times uncanny experience. . . . An impressive achievement.”—The New York Times Book Review
In Marion Zimmer Bradley's masterpiece, we see the tumult and adventures of Camelot's court through the eyes of the women who bolstered the king's rise and schemed for his fall. From their childhoods through the ultimate fulfillment of their destinies, we follow these women and the diverse cast of characters that surrounds them as the great Arthurian epic unfolds stunningly before us. As Morgaine and Gwenhwyfar struggle for control over the fate of Arthur's kingdom, as the Knights of the Round Table take on their infamous quest, as Merlin and Viviane wield their magics for the future of Old Britain, the Isle of Avalon slips further into the impenetrable mists of memory, until the fissure between old and new worlds' and old and new religions' claims its most famous victim.

5By Moreland2662I was first introduced to this story through the made for tv movie adaptation. I didn’t realize their was a book until years later. As soon as I found out it had started out as a book I immediately bought it and read it. I absolutely love this book very thought provoking. Although I enjoy the movie as well the two are quite different the movie doesn’t go into nearly as much detail as the book. So when I want to revisit the world of King Author that Marion Zimmer Bradley created but don’t have time to pick up the book I watch the movie. I have read this book 3 or four times over the last 10-12 years. The Mist Of Avalon

5By customize ableThis book was a pleasure to read and the mysterious themes have stuck with me in the years since I read it, often coming to mind and sense at random times in my own life. There’s romance, action, politics, and religious theory woven into a beautifully written medieval setting setting. This book poses questions that only the reader can decide upon, making for a fun, thought provoking read. Will definitely read this again one day.Amazing
5By sigma shrinkThis is my favorite book of all time. I have read it 3 times and will read it again. I have read all of the Avalon books that sequel and prequel this novel (The Forest House is also incredibly good). This story is told so well with so much detail and thought that it feels as thought it were true. I find myself dreaming to be an Avalon priestess living in the mists.Love it

4By BusyBusinessThis book is very thought-provoking and it is a good story. The characters are interesting and the plot becomes ever-more intriguing. Some cons: the book is incredibly long and it becomes kind of confusing and mystical toward the ends.Wonderfully Written
