And it all begins with The Unsung Hero, a heart-pounding tale of love that reveals hidden truths and brings two solitary people together against all odds.

After a near-fatal head injury, Navy SEAL lieutenant Tom Paoletti catches a glimpse of an international terrorist in his New England hometown. When he calls for help, the Navy dismisses the sighting as injury-induced imaginings. In a last-ditch effort to prevent disaster, Tom creates his own makeshift counterterrorism team, assembling his most loyal officers, two elderly war veterans, a couple of misfit teenagers, and Dr. Kelly Ashton. As the town’s infamous bad boy, Tom was always in love with Kelly, a sweet “girl next door” who has grown into a remarkable woman. Now he has one final chance for happiness, one last chance to win her heart, and one desperate chance to save the day.

I know this is not a recent story. Troubleshooters are so popular and fun to read! I love this book since it tells you all about Tom and Kelly. It even has David & Mallory's story inside as well as some back story from WWII. Every book from Suzanne Brockmann is action packed full of HOT men and strong women. I love reading about the US NAVY SEALS since I am so proud of them and what they do for this country. I wish they got more credit for all their work. Tom and Kelly grew up next door to one another and had fathers who were together in the second world war. Their both attracted to each other and basically have an encounter that drives Tom to join up with the Navy before he takes advantage of the underage Kelly. This book is also the introduction to most of the amazing characters who appear in the other Toubleshooters series of books. This is the early days, back when Tom is still a Navy Seal himself. Our story tells of an older Tom and an older and divorced Kelly. Shows us their sparks are still firing and aiming at one another. Tom has waited for his turn to have a chance with her. Kelly is scared to admit how she feels for Tom, since the last time she wanted something with him he left her. Kelly has been hurt and is afraid to take a chance. Tom is aware his career limits what he can offer but wants the chance to finally show her she is the most important in his life. Meanwhile... there is a terrorist in town who wants to make something go boom and the only one who can find him is Tom. After his head injury there are just a few who trust him enough to stand by him and hopefully counter this attack. I loved every minute and re-read this book and series of books over and over. If you are looking for something new and worth it - you have found it.
