Description

The original novel that inspired the films!

First published more than fifty years ago, Pierre Boulle’s chilling novel launched one of the greatest science fiction sagas in motion picture history.

In the not-too-distant future, three astronauts land on what appears to be a planet just like Earth, with lush forests, a temperate climate, and breathable air. But while it appears to be a paradise, nothing is what it seems.

They soon discover the terrifying truth: On this world humans are savage beasts, and apes rule as their civilized masters. In an ironic novel of nonstop action and breathless intrigue, one man struggles to unlock the secret of a terrifying civilization, all the while wondering: Will he become the savior of the human race, or the final witness to its damnation? In a shocking climax that rivals that of the original movie, Boulle delivers the answer in a masterpiece of adventure, satire, and suspense.

A really good read! There are obviously differences from the movie (they love to change things in films), but that's what makes it great.

Very suspenseful. I was easily absorbed into the story and found myself eagerly continuing to read. Good descriptions, nothing too abstract like some science fiction authors tend to do which looses their readers. This book references things that are common today. I'm glad I read it.

Even though I've seen the movies and kind of speculated the end results the twist and turns the book brings out are nothing like the movies. Great read and keeps you busy with anticipation!!! Read it it's well worth it. Way more interesting then the movies!

I watched all of the planet of the apes movies and tv shows as a kid but never read the book until now. This was so well written. It's a shame that the tv shows and movies never played out this well. Loved it.

I received a book for Christmas detailing 501 must read books. The first one I picked from it was Planet of the Apes. I am so glad I did! As always, the book was much better than the movie!
