The year is 1835 and Carolina Adams finds herself enchanted by an unlikely suitor...the railroad. Frustrated by society's expectations upon her gender, she longs to study more masculine subjects and is thrilled when her father grants her a tutor.
James Baldwin arrives to serve as Carolina's teacher, but of more importance, he is to court Carolina's beautiful older sister, Virginia. Will expectations--and Virginia's southern charm--elicit the hoped-for proposal? Or will James and Carolina dare to acknowledge the mutual interests and feelings growing between them?
Reviews
All Tracie Peterson books
5By SQ64Tracie Peterson book series are great. I have read most of her books. They have history, reminder to have faith in God even in the toughest times. Not to give up. These are my kind of booksFun book
4By ChancegardnerI enjoyed the story about the sisters and how life was so different for women during that time in history. It was slow starting with so much talk of railroads and such unusual names, but once I got past the introduction to the characters it was a good book.Distant dreams
5By Gma CBI have always liked this author and have read many others. I can't wait for the rest of Ribbons of Steel seriesDistant Dreams
5By J3n61If I have ever read a book that needs a sequel this one sure does. In fact, after I finished Distant Dreams, I searched the web just in case there was a sequel. I didn't want the story to end. Even though it's a romance book, it is also about the beginning of the locomotive. I highly recommend this book! I promise you that you will love it and probably be ready for a sequel just like I am!Horrible ending!
2By Rarry Mo MoI feel like I wasted a lot of time on a good story with very interesting facts about the railroad but the ending was horribly disappointing. Felt as if someone said 'ok you have to wrap this up in 10 minutes'. Very very disappointed.Distant Dreams
5By TinapollyWonderful, leaving me wanting more!Distant Dreams

3By Saucey CherIt's a good book but a word of caution, the book does not end in any conclusion because there are 2 books after this one.
