Description

July 2005. In the Pyrenees mountains near Carcassonne, Alice, a volunteer at an archaeological dig, stumbles into a cave and makes a startling discovery-two crumbling skeletons, strange writings on the walls, and the pattern of a labyrinth.

Eight hundred years earlier, on the eve of a brutal crusade that will rip apart southern France, a young woman named Alais is given a ring and a mysterious book for safekeeping by her father. The book, he says, contains the secret of the true Grail, and the ring, inscribed with a labyrinth, will identify a guardian of the Grail. Now, as crusading armies gather outside the city walls of Carcassonne, it will take a tremendous sacrifice to keep the secret of the labyrinth safe.

I had a terrible time putting this book, I just wanted to keep reading on & on. I do not know French very well but I had fun looking up the words on google and having it pronounce the words for me so I could try to speak it myself while increasing my vocabulary as I read. It was enjoyable for me! The storyline is truly amazing! I loved going back and forth from the past to the present & how it all mingled together. She’s a very good writer!! Haven’t found a book I do not enjoy reading from her.

Thrilling and educative at the same time. I saw the mini TV series first, but the book is much, much better!

I gave this one a shot, and I felt like I had to work to finish. I felt like I had to finish since I paid for the book, yet it just couldn't hold my interest. If you get this book, I hope it works out for you.
