This was a great, albeit too short, read. I used to be an avid skier, so these wonderful ski stories took me back to my own adventures. It was like sitting in the lodge at the end of the last run and listening to everyone's fantastic snow stories of the day...or "remember that time when...? stories. A thoroughly enjoyable book.

WHEN THE IDEA for SKIING THE EDGE came to me, I contacted the best ski and snowboard writers I know. I asked them to give me something intense and intensely personal. Nearly all said yes. Peggy Shinn wrote about getting interrogated by narcs in Toronto's airport. Michel Beaudry told what it's like to get buried by an avalanche. Mike Finkel reported from the world's worst ski area. Lori Knowles almost killed a couple of her ski students. And so on. This is the best snowsport writing I've ever seen, all in one affordable place. I think you'll love it as much as I do. — Jules Older

Finally going to recycle all those ski mags taking up my bookshelf. Finally, some black-diamond writing in a digital storm of passion for mountain culture. Jules Older has put together a classic.

This is great gift for any who skis or snowboards; enjoys smart, original, compelling writing; or is seeking a vicarious adrenaline rush. Jules Older has compiled an unforgettable collection of essays on a broad range of "edge" related topics. Once you start reading it, this is a hard book to put down.
