Uneventful read
2By pgomez123Started off decent but then got too cheesy for me. I had to force myself to get through it.Great Book
5By soozetOne of the best books I’ve read. LOVE the depth of the author....Just bought her next book. Thanks for a great adventure as I felt part of this lovely family! You are a fabulous writer!Great Read!
5By Broccoli BettyThis story takes you on a journey of Italian love! This is an author who will pick you up and hold you until the final word. Definitely recommend!Written by a teenager?
1By HolkyKThere’s no complexity, not one word I needed to lookup, boring dialogue, lifeless plot.Cute love story
3By Yamiler23Difficult to read through some parts.Little more than a well-written Harlequin Romance
2By KnowsEnglishThe author creates a strong, creative, smart woman and then has this woman make the most ridiculous, weak-willed, give-up-everything-for-some-guy-you-met-for-five-minutes-a-hundred-years-ago, googly-eyed pre-teen girl decisions about her life. Made me want to throw my iPad across the room. If you like stories in which strong women give up everything to be with a poor guy because he's a hunk, then you'll like this book.Beautiful
5By Chim00ChimI loved this book!! I have not read any of Adriana Trigiani’s books before but I am lookig forward to reading more. The Italian scenery she describes is beautiful and vivid, and the characters I fell in love with. Truely an all time favorite for me.Shoemaker's Wife
5By Lit AfficianadoA superb tapestry of Italian family heritage woven into the fabric of immigrant adjustment to life in America... the blend of historical and cultural detail in the lives of this fictional family held me spellbound! I just wish I could have read beyond the last page to know how Enza's return to Italy turned out!The Shoemakers Wife
4By KSWKFA book about entire lifetimes. Thank you for after endearing the characters to me for then going beyond "they fall in love and get married". Also a heart warming book filled with history and real love.Don't bother
2By SleffzSappy and formulaic....it hooks you but then drags on relentlessly for another 400 pages. The shoemaker'swife
5By Shoemaker'swifeCouldn't put this book down. What an amazing journey from Italy to New York. I highly recommend this book! The shoemakers wife
5By Pjv-MVery enjoyable. I did not want it to end!Good story
4By SrwcapecodI do like Adriana Trigiani's books. I found this a hard one to get into, but once I did I couldn't put it down. The Shoemaker's Wife
5By AmeliaFrancesI enjoyed this book so much. I am a second generation Italian American woman. My grandparents immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1900's. My father's mother came through Ellis Island. As a young child, my father and his brothers were placed in foster homes after their father died leaving his mother a widow with children she could not afford to feed. The early immigrants who came here worked so hard...family was everything.Like a 1940s movie
2By Tucson readerAuthor's descriptive phrases were a little too much for me. However, I could overlook the flowery language but couldn't overlook the many, many chance meetings which drove the plot. Actually, I could predict where and when these would occur - and I don't credit myself a psychic! The ending too neat and tidy, really - 4 days? A disappointing read but not SO bad as I did finish the book. Perhaps if I had borrowed, rather than purchased it, I wouldn't have finished it.Exquisito!
5By BlmurWhat a beautiful and moving story. Strength. Resilience. Determination. Confidence. Commitment. And love. Always love. Enza's life and struggles are exquisitely told with compassion and care. This is a true story from the heart. A "must read."The Shoemaker's Wife
5By Vbolt78I just love a story told of family memories with a mixture of history (even if it is fictional). Having recently visited Ellis Island and New York City, I felt like I was there with them. Great story! It has its moments
3By Debbie MendozaThere are some redeeming qualities about this book. The descriptions of Italy is one of them. Another is the intimate look at life for immigrants in New Jersey and New York. On the other hand, much of the story telling is superficial and cloying. I forced myself to finish reading the book because I had paid for it.Loved it!
5By VvvvggggI loved every page. A superb story. Kept my interest from beginning to end. I would recommend to anyone looking for a sweet story that's easy to keep track of.
