Description

Sarai, the last child of her aged father, is beautiful, spoiled, and used to getting her own way. Even as a young girl, she is aware of the way men look at her, including her half brother Abram. When Abram finally requests Sarai's hand, she asks one thing--that he promise never to take another wife as long as she lives. Even her father thinks the demand is restrictive and agrees to the union only if Sarai makes a promise in return--to give Abram a son and heir. Certain she can easily do that, Sarai agrees.

But as the years stretch on and Sarai's womb remains empty, she becomes desperate to fulfill her end of the bargain--lest Abram decide that he will not fulfill his. To what lengths will Sarai go in her quest to bear a son? And how long will Abram's patience last?

Jill Eileen Smith thrilled readers with The Wives of King David series. Now she brings to life the strong and celebrated wives of the patriarchs, beginning with the beautiful and inscrutable Sarai.

Couldn't put this book down! I know the story of Abraham and Sarah and have always loved it, however the spin that is put on this how it opens its up into Sarai's life is truly awesome! Thank you for so much human interpretation we all know how our brains and minds work and this book spoke volumes into that!

Very well written. Loved it from beginning to end. Could see the colors and could smell the odors. Glad to find a great story written by the bible. Keep us reading.

This book was very well written. The pain of Sarai at being barren is so authentic. And I really appreciate the research that went into accurately portraying the lifestyle Sarai and Abram would have shared. It adds greatly to the veracity of the story. Most of all, I appreciate that the author stayed with what the bible tells us happened. I wish more authors would realize that they cannot improve on God's story. I was touched deeply by this beautiful story. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to any adult reader. It does have adult themes and would not be right for children. I hope you enjoy the story as much as I did.

Interesting read. It depicts how Sarah stumbled, but got backup again with the Lord's help and mercy. It also shows how important it is to seek God's will and involve Him in everything we do.
