Description

Aesop's Illustrated Fables features more than 400 fables, beautifully illustrated with engravings and color plates by Arthur Rackham, Walter Crane, and Ernest Griset. It includes all of the classic fables whose titles and morals have become part of our common cultural vocabulary, among them "The Boy Who Cried Wolf", "The Tortoise and the Hare", "The City Mouse and the Country Mouse", "The Dog in the Manger", and "The Fox and the Grapes". Part fairy tale, part fantasy story, part parable with a lesson to impart, each of these fables is a polished gem of storytelling craft whose luster never dulls.

It was nice to be able to finally read these. Although they are interesting, they are not as profound as I was expecting.

Intelligent, clever, good advices! Although written in ' old-english style' I couldn't stop laughing on the smartness of some fables.

Asoep's fables is a must read. When I first got it I was hesitant to read it because I thought it would be written in Old English but it had a charm to it that made me relax. I absolutely recommend it.

I turned two finger swipe on and had Siri read it to me. Going to do this one again and often! It leaves you feeling practical, or a sense of resolution. I came away with a sense, "oh, yeah - that's how life really works," and "boy I had a few things wrong." Emphasizes the need to factor the self interest of others.

For all you haters and stupid people out there,I understand that you can't read words from the story. However, you can guess your way through, but I would like if the author modernize the text

This must be the most complete version of Aesop's fables available in the English language. It is not the prettiest version, not the most modern version, but is full of ideas and stories that people have shared for thousands of years. These stories are meant to be spoken aloud and discussed, as they were before the invention of writing. They are more interesting when you share them -- act them out, tell them around a campfire A good read and full of sayings which you still might hear, or are still referenced in literature today, although the language is a little outdated.
