Description
An Apple Books Classic edition.
A World War I–era manuscript is found at sea. It tells an astonishing tale of espionage, combat, and a tropical island where evolution follows its own harrowing path. The Land That Time Forgot is the first book in famed science fiction writer Edgar Rice Burroughs’ trilogy of high-adventure tales about an undiscovered land called Caspak.
The series starts off with a German U-boat sinking a passenger ship. A handful of survivors, including an American named Bowen Tyler and several British officers, end up taking over the U-boat and eventually stranding all the combatants on a lush island that shouldn’t exist. Here, dinosaurs and Neanderthals live alongside winged humanlike hunters. To survive the nightmare trials ahead, enemies must join forces. From the first page to the last, The Land That Time Forgot is a gripping read full of unexpected twists and heart-stopping danger that will appeal to anyone who loves action-packed adventure stories.
Reviews
Silly
3By Amanda J. GreenMaybe I'm just not used to it, but I thought that the story was a little far-fetched and patched toghether. The book turns around completely about half-way through: the matter of the "land that time forgot" has nothing to do with the sailors—might as well be two different books.Enjoyable classic read
4By CaseyisobnoxiousI liked this book! I feel like the beginning was a bit slow with all the talk of boats and what kinds and whatnot, but I really enjoyed reading about the island and the happenings there. I was also thrilled to learn about the movie and look forward to watching it. I love dinosaur anything and although this isn’t my usual kind of read, I’m glad I stuck through with it especially because I like how the book ended.Adults book of the year

4By Dunes 1969I had heard about this book before but never got the chance to read it The story line is a quick read and a nice to read an classic storyThe Land That Time Forgot
5By TRockTbFantastic adventure with a humane touchFun idea but silly things sprinkled in
3By TheGuyAndJunkThe use of jujitsu to quickly kill two of three men that were holding the protagonist down just seemed so silly. 65% of the book was frustratingly on a submarine, rather than in “The Land That Time Forgot”. Some silly things can justifiably be boiled down to what science simply had wrong at the time, but there’s just too much other silliness that makes what could have been a fine grounded and fun story just… silly. The protagonist learns a whole language in less than 3 months. Come on. However, the general idea is good and if some things are to be ignored, it’s an okay read. Hopefully the other 2 books redeem some of the child like idealisms that bring this one down to 3 stars for me.Brits, Germans, Americans, and only 1 submarine between them all

5By pipe rangerA direction impaired narcissist fights metamorphosis monkeys for a fickle broad because it was easier than distilling water with a full kitchen. 10/10I hate Lys
3By Californian100Lys feels like the female love interest in a Hollywood retelling of a popular book in which Lys isn’t originally a love interest or doesn’t even exist. Conceptually, the island is kind of interesting though.WHERE IS THE MOVIE?
5By GOT YOiTunes, get the movie now.Gem

5By RwraysmithAs always he does it again! I can't see how Edgar always manages to write intense adventure stories with so few words. Even though I read this book in just a few hours, it truly took my breath away. I highly recommend it!The Land that Time Forgot
5By F.D.S.Once again good old Edgar comes through. He's a great story teller. Just when you think you know what's going on, he changes it up, again and again. A true master at his craft. If you like the old writers don't miss this one.
