Description

This book is the only publication in existence that contains virtually all of Utah’s gun laws in one volume. Notice we said state gun laws, not local ones. There are too many varied city, town and county ordinances relating to firearms to include in this book. Fortunately, however, Utah has uniformity statutes (see U.C.A. 76-10-500, Chapter 7) that prohibit political subdivisions from passing ordinances or rules contrary to state law. The state legislature has, however, given cities and towns the authority to regulate the discharge (as opposed to the possession of) firearms within their city limits. To be safe, just assume that all cities and towns prohibit shooting within their boundaries, except at public shooting ranges. To date, counties have not been given authority by the Utah Legislature to pass gun laws except to regulate spotlighting and night hunting within their boundaries. There is a whole wagonload of federal gun laws that impact Utahns.
