Description

Christopher Love was born in Cardiff, Wales in 1618. He was converted at the age of 15, attended New Inn Hall, Oxford, and later assumed the pastorate of St. Lawrence Jewry in London, later becoming a Presbyterian. Because of Love’s political leanings and involvements he was arrested by Oliver Cromwell’s forces for his “alleged” plan to raise money for the restoration of the monarchy, a charge Love denied. He was arrested for treason. Love was beheaded on Tower Hill, London on August 22, 1651. This work is a “vindication” of his position, while also housing a number of documents that have not been previously published, including the last sermon he ever preached on Job 30:23, and his final words immediately before being executed. The letters contained in this volume are eminently spiritual and practical. Throughout this work Love’s last words are a testimony to God’s grace and his convictions of standing before God and men without guile. This is not a scan or facsimile.
