Description

In the unforgettable sequel to the bestselling Jonathan Livingston Seagull, two barn-storming vagabonds meet in the fields of Midwest America and embark on an entertaining and sometimes startling mystical adventure that presents a new perspective on reality, miracles, and the way many of us could live—if we’re up for the challenge.

In the cloud-washed airspace between the cornfields of Illinois and blue infinity, a man puts his faith in the propeller of his biplane. For disillusioned writer and itinerant barnstormer Richard Bach, belief is as real as a full tank of gas and sparks firing in the cylinders . . . until he meets Donald Shimoda—former mechanic and self-described messiah who can make wrenches fly and Richard’s imagination soar. . . .

In Illusions, Richard Bach takes to the air to discover the ageless truths that give our souls wings: that people don’t need airplanes to soar . . . that even the darkest clouds have meaning once we lift ourselves above them . . . and that messiahs can be found in the unlikeliest places—like hay fields, one-traffic-light midwestern towns, and most of all, deep within ourselves.

I usually read books for educational purposes but I must admit this was my first book I read that made me laugh consistently and it was educational at the same time. Allow yourself to be who you are. Who you truly are. Be honest with yourself. One of the most powerful tools we possess is our minds. Utilized in the right way and we are unstoppable. Highly recommend this book.

I recently decided to break up with my boyfriend, so I’ve been a bit uneasy since then. This book help solidify this feeling I’ve always had that legitimately, everything will be ok. The world is an illusion and we really are free to live as we would like.

Your mind really has to be turned on and open to grasp this book. Very quickly has it become my favorite. As a pilot myself and very spiritual person, this book spoke to me. Definitely a 10/10, I recommend it to everyone I think will relate to it.

This story has helped me through depression, turbulent times, and just a great weekend. It challenges all of the conventional ideas in a way that is elementary but yet has different layers. Richard Bach has produced books that have helped me get to know him, create a friend almost in who he is. He is my all time favorite author and I want to thank him for these words. Thank you for writing this book and all of your works, you’ve saved my life more than once.

I could not put this book down. Now that I have finished reading it, I wish it had not ended. I know that I will be thinking about "sayings" in this book for years to come and will probably re-read it for the sheer pleasure of the experience.

In 8th grade my teacher would give me seperate reading assignments, since I had already read much of her reading list, and this was the first book she gave me. I loved it and to this day I'll always remember her as my favorite teacher for this reason alone. Read it!
