Description

Seth Weinstein always knew Tina was way, way, way out of his league. Which is why he’s still astonished that he’s on a plane heading for their wedding in Florida. The Groom Posse has already pulled an airport prank on him—and he’s survived! It should be easy going from now on.

But Seth has absolutely no idea what he’s about to get into. A simple drink or two with the boys sparks a series of events that will pit Seth and his friends against everything and everyone imaginable, from his very powerful, very disapproving soon-to-be father-in-law to the federal government to a love-struck orangutan.

Seth’s hope for smooth sailing is turning into a trip on the Titanic. And the water is getting deeper by the minute…

As always, a Dave Barry novel is a treat. It’s a Pulp Fiction-like amalgamation of characters that intertwine beautifully and peacefully. I hope Dave Barry lives to be 150 years old!

Slow start but by mid book I could not put it down. Finished it in one weekend.

Those of us who have lived in the Sunshine State for any length of time will get an extra chuckle reading Dave’s work and envisioning non-Floridians telling themselves, “THAT obviously could never happen … “ Smart Floridians (not an oxymoron, thank you) know just about everything in this book CAN happen. And probably is happening somewhere in Florida right now.

This is one of the funniest books I have ever read. Unfortunately, it encouraged me to read two other of his books, that were not nearly as good (Science Fair and Big Trouble?).

The book is a madcap romp through the streets and waters (near finale) of this truly insane city you either love or hate. It made me laugh out loud many times, and I looked forward to resuming reading every night for about the week it lasted. Very entertaining!

This book started out as an escape from waiting in long lines to see my doctor or bank teller and that sort of thing, but soon I couldn't put it down. Besides nearly falling out of my seat, I enjoyed an unexpected amount of philosophy on love and life, and basically all the questions that must go through a guys head before a wedding. And this book answers them. Had a great read.

I started this outstanding book in the car while picking my son up from work. I had on Book Radio, and this man named Dave Barry was reading chapters from his book "Insane City." I laughed so hard, and I was also moved by the will of one mother to find freedom in a new land. I just HAD to buy it! I would tell anyone thinking of buying a book to read for summer, that this is it...."Insane City" will fill every want you have for a wonderful read. You truly will love it as much as I did. How could you not love perfection!

This book had me laughing out loud on several occasions. Having been to Miami made this book even more enjoyable and made me want to go back and visit some of the locations in the story. The cast of colorful characters keep this book moving at a brisk pace. If your looking for a fun read I would recommend this book.

Buy this book if you have a sophomoric sense of humor. I quit at page 80.

Buy this book, now! Wickedly funny, wonderful cast of characters and a great story. Hate to bring up Carl Hiaasen, Dave Barry's probably tired of it, but he is the grand master of the genre. Well, Carl, budge over and make room at the top - Dave has now earned a place there too.
