From the World's No. 1 Storyteller, James and the Giant Peach is a children's classic that has captured young reader's imaginations for generations.

One of TIME MAGAZINE’s 100 Best Fantasy Books of All Time

After James Henry Trotter's parents are tragically eaten by a rhinoceros, he goes to live with his two horrible aunts, Spiker and Sponge. Life there is no fun, until James accidentally drops some magic crystals by the old peach tree and strange things start to happen. The peach at the top of the tree begins to grow, and before long it's as big as a house. Inside, James meets a bunch of oversized friends—Grasshopper, Centipede, Ladybug, and more. With a snip of the stem, the peach starts rolling away, and the great adventure begins!

Roald Dahl is the author of numerous classic children’s stories including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG, and many more!

James and the Giant Peach remains a favorite among kids and parents alike nearly 60 years after it was first published, thanks to its vivid imagery, vibrant characters and forthright exploration of mature themes like death and hope.” —TIME Magazine

This book is very good but there is 3 bad words in it all said by the centipede. Better watch your language centipede. But other than that it was a very good book. But I don’t recommend this book for ages 9 and down, because of the swearing and the fact that his aunts are very abusive to him and because his parents were killed by a rhinoceros. But good book overall.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I love Roald Dahl. His books, especially Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and George’s Marvelous Medicine are fantastic, witty and throughly entertaining. James and the Giant Peach is one of his...less impressive books. The humor is crude, the language is bad, and it’s just kind of disgusting overall. Don’t let Roald Dahl be ruined for you by reading this awful book like he was for me.

About half of my class did not enjoy this book because of the negative language and the poor choice of words between characters. The other half of my students enjoyed the book because it was entertaining.
  • So good book!

This is a good book and we are reading it in class, but we found out that on chapter 18 it says a bad word and we are fourth graders. My teacher is kid friendly and so when you say the word fat she says another word like you know. From, A fourth grader
