Description

Now available in eBook, USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton’s debut novel is a playful and erotic romance between an aspiring actress and Hollywood’s hottest new leading man.

When Grace Sheridan returns to Los Angeles to become a working actress, it’s a second shot at a life-long dream. With some help from her best-friend agent, will that dream become a reality—or at thirty-three, has Grace missed her chance at the big time? And when an unexpected sizzling romance with Jack Hamilton, the entertainment industry's newest “it” boy, threatens to shine an uncomfortable spotlight on her life, how will that affect her career…and his?

Funny, borderline neurotic Grace is perfect in her imperfections, and the sexual chemistry between her and charming yet blissfully unaware Jack is off the charts. With laugh-out-loud dialogue and a super-steamy romance that will get your heart racing, sneaking around in L.A. and dodging the paparazzi has never been so fun.

In what world is 33 old? The lead couldn’t stop talking about how old she is, making a huge deal out of it like she’s middle aged. Yet she talked and acted like a teenager. It was so ridiculous I had to stop reading.

So funny and very cute. I loved Grace out spoken and unashamed personality.
  • It was okay. Started off hot and then fizzled towards the end.

Jack and Grace's story. It's sweet, witty, and funny. I found the dialogue clever. It's entertaining. I love that word shagging. It's a pleasant and pleasurable story. Ive got to say, this is the first story that I've read where the couple has only had oral sex and is waiting to shag for a special occasion. I appreciated the easy breezy relationship because now a days too many stories are filled with obstacles and distractions and while the author could have gone that route I'm glad she did not. I would have liked some communication to take place between them and a little less shagging. The relationship has been fun with no seriousness. All doubts have been pushed aside, with living in the moment. I'm glad Grace is happy and having a new appreciation for sex but at times it can be a little over the top. Their relationship at this point seems to be based on shagging with no further development. I need a little more story line than sex, dining, sex, bathing, sex, undressing, sex, texting, sex, coffee, sex, and occasional bouts of acting. While it is amazing that Jack loves all of Grace's faults I on the other did not like them. The author was really pushing her in my face and I did not care for it. I could have forgotten the age difference between them but it was constantly thrown in your face. I hold no judgement but when you do not want to make a big deal about it and it's announced in the most in opportune moments it gets under your skin. It started off sizzling but then slowly faded. Way too much sex. Who was she trying to convince? That Grace could keep up with a younger guy or that Jack would only stay if Grace kept shagging him.

I really enjoyed Wallbanger so I thought I'd give this story a try even though the premise didn't really interest me (Wallbanger was so funny I literally laughed out loud, very few writers are that good in my opinion). Unfortunately this book is not at all stand alone; generally a novel has some sort of problem that the story develops and then solves at the end, this has none of that. These two people meet and start messing around because they seem to get one another instantly. Even the minor "problems" of their 9 year age difference and his fame aren't issues in this story (nor is she at all self conscious about her weight, it seemed to me, though it's mentioned in all the summaries for this series). Then, in what seems like just 2 or 3 weeks the story is over and they're still in a relationship, it's just long distance. Some problems, I assume, that arise later in the series--her BFF/manager/ boyfriend's manager strikes me as probably going to create a riff by prioritizing work over relationships and her old friend Michael and his old "friend" Marcia are going to become minor problems. I really don't think these things are worth 3 whole books. Furthermore, the humor and writing I so loved in Wallbanger is totally missing here--the writing is trying awfully hard to be clever and the humor is really immature. I just didn't enjoy the writing, the characters or the way she's structured this story and series. But, this is my preference and since I lived Wallbanger I'll give it 3 stars instead of 2.

I stayed with the book but was not satisfied. The main character, for 33 was portrayed very immature and I found that hard to relate to. I must have missed the funny parts because I didn't laugh while reading this book. Does the second book get better?

I only purchased this book because of my quick obsession with this author who wrote one of the funniest, sexy books I had ever read which was The book Wallbanger. Well doing a little research on Ms. Alice Clayton I saw that she had written her first book the Unidentified Redhead. I figured let me give it a whirl. Well let me say I was hooked. I love this story as much as I loved Wallbanger. I'm loving Jack and Grace. Please take my advise and get this book. I just purchased Redhead Reaveled and can't wait to start.
