Description

From Victoria Station to the Tower of London takes you on a series of walking tours around the Westminster area of London, stopping at numerous landmarks (and a few pubs) along the way.   You'll arrive at Victoria Station, just a few blocks from Buckingham Palace, where you'll catch the Changing of the Guard, and then walk through St. James Park to Horse Guards Parade and the Churchill Museum.  Then you'll check out Westminster Abbey, Parliament, and Big Ben, and proceed across Westminster Bridge and take a trip to the top of the London Eye.

The tour continues with stops at Trafalgar Square, stop for a pint at the Sherlock Holmes pub, and on to Piccadilly Circus and nearby Leicester Square, then down Shaftesbury Avenue through SoHo to the British Museum and Covent Garden.   Finally, after visiting St. Paul's Cathedral you'll arrive at the Tower of London to see the Crown Jewels.  The book is packed from start to finish with compelling panoramic photography of London.

Each chapter presents a series of walking routes using the books interactive maps, and offers a couple of hotel suggestions complete with slideshows and reviews of featured hotels.  The maps also link to a fountain of information ranging from the historical (history of Westminster Abbey) to the practical (theatre ticket booking and helping you find your way on the tube).  You'll even get to watch Margaret Thatcher doing a Monty Python sketch about dead parrots.

The next-generation approach taken in the FutureTravel series leverages the full power of iBooks Author to deliver a travel book that is both artistically and technically satisfying, and fully leverages the connectivity of the iPad platform.
