Description

"Prolific romance author Johnson...has produced an enjoyable slow-burn tale; A particularly appealing element of this book is its depiction of a patient, perceptive hero." — Kirkus Reviews From USA Today bestselling author, Elana Johnson, comes your next great romance read. Sweet and yet utterly satisfying, you'll get all the friends to lovers, grumpy sunshine, and steamy-sweet kisses you want (some in the shower!) - all while on vacation! - in THE RELATIONTRIP. Question: What do a reclusive author and an outgoing real estate agent have in common? Answer: Nothing. But fate brought them together on a vacation five years ago, and as Logan and Sloane prepare for their annual get-together, there are sparks flying between them. Sloane: When Logan Murphy, my accidental best friend, calls to say our annual mid-winter trip has to be "redone," he's already got the solution. Belize. An adults-only resort, and we leave in two days. I'm giddy with excitement, because I need this trip more than I can express. When I see Murph standing in the airport, my heart twitches to a beat it hasn't since my fiancé left me to tell our friends and family that he couldn't make it to the wedding. So it's a short-lived twitch, because I'm never going to get into the dating boxing ring again—and least of all with my best friend. Logan: I've never told Sloane what I do for a living, and she doesn't know how I feel about her either. But I want her to know all of my secrets. I want my best friend in my life more than once a year, and I've already started penning a happily-ever-after for the two of us. This year, I tell myself, as my crush on the vibrant woman is at least two years old now. If only I knew how to tell her... This is a standalone, slow-burn travel romance that will make you smile, gasp, and cheer for Logan and Sloane as they figure out who they are...and who they want—at home or on vacation. For fans of BEACH READ and THE PEOPLE WE MEET ON VACATION by Emily Henry, THE LAYOVER by Lacie Waldon, or THE UNHONEYMOONERS by Christina Lauren. Reviews: "Prolific romance author Johnson...has produced an enjoyable slow-burn tale; A particularly appealing element of this book is its depiction of a patient, perceptive hero." — Kirkus Reviews "Romance readers who know exactly what they like — cozy romances with beachy kisses and people learning to trust offers of happiness — will enjoy this execution of a classic formula. Logan and Sloane are likable leads." — Publishers Weekly

This book is a delight. It captures all of the romantic beats of a sweet, friends to lovers romance. The chemistry between Logan and Sloane sizzles, without ever getting too steamy. It is a clean beach read that can be enjoyed anywhere.

I read this in a DAY. It got me ready to go on vacation, for sure, but also, what a sweet story. Was really cheering for this amazing couple. Elana always knocks this kind of stuff out of the park

This is such a delightful book. I enjoyed the creative way that Sloane and Logan met, at the airport and then proceeded to go on her non-honeymoon. This becomes a fantastic friendship (BFF) over the next 5 years they reconnect with an annual 10 year mid winter vacation to some place tropical to get out of the cold and snowy states they live in, they don’t live in the same state. I love the connection between Sloane and Logan, this is such a fantastic book, kept me smiling so much I couldn’t put the book down until I was done. I definitely recommend this book!

Elana Johnson has a knack for creating characters with such depth of feeling, witty banter and all the things we love in a good romantic story. Sparks fly between these best friends on their annual get-together leading them through a series of situations right to the required happily-ever-after. Get this book…you won’t be sorry!

Fun author writing a cozy beach read with an unusual premise. Standalone. Clean.

I really enjoyed this beachy best friends romance. It was a nice escape from our third major snowstorm of the season. I enjoyed the characters and how everything felt like it happened in a bubble. It was a lovely read. I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I love the writing style of this author. And I did love the basis of this story that friends fall in love. However, there were a few situations in this story that made me uncomfortable to read. If it hadn’t been for this, this story could have been a five star read.

Thoroughly enjoyed Elana Johnson’s new sweet romance. A bit different from her other books, Elana writes this text in first person which allows the reader a glimpse into the thoughts and emotions of her characters as they work through the joys and struggles in their relationship.
  • Enjoyable beach read

What an enjoyable book by Elana Johnson, different than the others I’ve read by her, but still a good clean romance book. Her characters are well written, with flaws and all, especially Sloan. There were times I didn’t like her because she was so selfish (and didn’t realize it) and Logan was just so giving of himself. Also Johnson paints a beautiful picture in the setting of the book. I definitely want to take a vacation to the beach resort Sloan and Logan were visiting. 5 stars from this reader.

It was a sweet and fun love story that had me laughing and routing for the two of them the whole way through! A fun best friend to romance story. I loved reading it. What I loved about this book was the real and relatable insecurities and the honest communication between the two main characters. Definitely recommend reading it!

This is a friends to lovers story. It was fun to see how things progressed for them and how they worked things out. It was a quick romantic read.

Loved this book. Sloane and Logan met 5 years ago after Sloan was left at the alter on her wedding day and chose to go on her honeymoon alone. The friendship has continued and now comes the hard part of acknowledging the fact their feelings have changed. Sloane still plays the victim and Logan had secrets that come out in a way that causes big feelings for both of them. It is a great book that kept me interested from beginning to end. Lots of kissing but no more spice than that. Several innuendos but totally G rated. Loved the escape to a warm beach in the middle of my winter.
  • Slow burn, drama, love

For me this book was really different from other books I’ve read by this author. For one thing it’s emotionally charged. I cried twice near the end because I felt moved by the growth of the main characters. The characters are realistically flawed. There is no ‘oh you like me and well I guess I like you too so lets have our HEA’. No it shows a real progression of love battling against fear. It was a breath of fresh air metaphorically speaking to not see characters pivot seamlessly from best friends to lovers at the drop of a hat. I also appreciated that very early in the book Logan told her how his feelings toward her were different, there wasn’t any dragging out trying to hide feelings for 3/4 of the book. The story was about them forging a lasting relationship. I loved the vacations! The last vacation in the book got me more excited about my trip going to the same place later this summer. Great beach read! This was a forced proximity, one bed, but no hanky panky happens. But oh my goodness their first kiss was amazing! Two words- beachside shower! Rating: PG, clean, no language, several kissing scenes but nothing really descriptive about it, some steam but without the heat, closed door romance, left at the altar, drinking alcohol.
