Just One More Moment by Carly Phillips is the first book in the new Sterling Family series, which is another family connected to the Dares. This book is about Remington Sterling and Raven Walsh. Raven is too consumed with running from her past to think about falling in love. She believes that anyone she gets close to will be in danger. Remy is determined to convince her otherwise. When Raven’s life is at risk, he will do almost anything to keep her safe. This was a short book, but it captured the necessary emotions and plot development to create a good story. This author is good at her craft and is amazing at creating interconnected worlds. All the elements were here: past tragedies that made them the people that they were, a current problem to be solved, amazing chemistry, a caring alphahero protector and a strong, brave woman who stands on her own two feet. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and if you enjoy a contemporary romance with light romantic suspense then you will too. I am voluntarily submitting this honest review after reading an advanced complementary copy of this book thanks to Wildfire Marketing and CP Publishing.

I love starting a new series, especially when I’ve met one of the main characters before. Remy Sterling popped up in partner Zach Dare’s story, and I was immediately smitten. Just like Raven Walsh, his co-worker..okay, technically employee! He’s charming and protective and shoots his shot when they are both at Zach’s wedding. Raven has had a tough, heartbreaking life and she doesn’t trust easily. She does trust Remy, though, and can’t resist him any longer. What she thought would be a quick fling turns out to be more, not just because of the chemistry and feelings between them but also the precarious circumstances Raven finds herself in. Not going to reveal any more of that but it played a big role in their story. Readers got a glimpse of Remy’s family, so I’ll be watching for their books…soon, I hope! This was an enjoyable read.

This was an enjoyable start to a new family along with visits with previous characters that are all intertwined. Both Raven and Remy had reasons for having reservations about commitments and personal relationships. Raven’s reasons were beyond her control (or so she thought) that made her uneasy about forming any kind of personal relationships. Remy’s reasons were based on the past. The more that Remy got to know Raven and what a special person she was, the more enamored he was with her. The problem was trying to convince her that they were made for a long term relationship. When the source of Raven’s problems emerges, they must find the courage to move forward. I’m looking forward to the rest of the Sterlings’ stories.
