The Vance Variable

Anna was always the popular one. Swim team, accomplished pianist, straight A’s and nearly every AP science course one could take. Her plans for the future were ambitious and extensive. Then, just before high school graduation, she became pregnant. She and her boyfriend argued about what to do about the baby. Ultimately, she gave it up for adoption, but the lack of support from her boyfriend made recovery especially difficult. Vance was equally ambitious with eyes set on medical school, and he excelled at his classes. But the best part of high school was the girl in his physics class his senior year. Anna was just a sophomore, and he never did get the guts to tell her how he felt. Then, two years later, his brother brought home a new girlfriend—Anna. He was determined to get over his crush, but when he saw that his brother was not supportive of Anna, he knew that he was the right man for her. Though he couldn’t betray his brother, would he be able to live with seeing them together?
