5By Priscilla B. D.A good book. Intrigue, murder, mystery, and trying to figure it out keeps you interested to the end. PBDOverkill on the details
2By candace cbWay to much unnecessary filler. The author overused quite a few “professor” words (macabre, cacophony, etc) and it made it feel like they were trying too hard. Too much focus on background and not enough on the actual mystery.Broken Life
4By DlbearVery suspenseful!It’s just ok
2By sebmebcabNot greatDisappointed
2By TsDarlin2016Characters lacked depth. I wanted the back story of Ivy’s accident and her sister’s disappearance and the family’s downfall. It left me with a lot of questions. The investigation barely mentioned the victims cause of death which was unrealistic. I found myself frustrated with the characters and the plot.It was ok, with very good moments
4By moltroubThis is the first time I’ve read a book by Ms Rise. The parts I liked were enough to keep me reading. Some good twists in the plot. The parts that almost made me give up was the repetitiveness of many paragraphs. At one point I wish she’d just get on with it, another places I thought was her editor just wanting more words. Then towards the end I thought I had actually lost my place, thinking I’d already read it. But no, using my iPhone keeps my place, even when I switch back and forth between it and my iPad. Another part of the novel talks about abuse and neglect. It irks me to no end having been a CPS Investigator when people don’t know the difference between the two. It’s so easy to look up in either a State or Country’s CPS mandates. I certainly hope the next book is written better as I truly believe Ms Rise has a gift in storytellingBroken life
2By DaaipCliche from page one, probably to the end but the writing is so bad, pretentious and clumsy bordering on ridiculous, that I couldn’t finish itGreat Read!

3By camieoct15I hate to be a downer but the only real action was at the very beginning & the end. In between was a lot of words, & more words. I found myself skipping paragraphs & didn’t miss a thing. Was soon bored with Miss Perfect who led a serial killer case which she was only a advisor. She & her partner seemed to be the only ones working a serial killer case. By the way she excludes him in the end. So full of herself. 7 18 2024
