Description
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
The #1 internationally bestselling phenomenon, When the Moon Hatched, is a fast-paced epic fantasy romance featuring an immersive, vibrant world with mysterious creatures, a unique magic system, and a love that blazes through the ages.
The Creators did not expect their beloved dragons to sail skyward upon their end. To curl into balls just beyond gravity’s grip, littering the sky with tombstones. With moons. They certainly did not expect them to FALL.
As a deadly assassin for the rebellion group Fíur du Ath, Raeve’s job is to complete orders and never get caught. When a rival bounty hunter turns her world upside down, blood spills, hearts break, and Raeve finds herself imprisoned by the Guild of Nobles—a group of powerful fae who turn her into a political statement.
Crushed by the loss of his great love, the grieving fae king Kaan Vaegor took the head of a king and donned his melted crown. Now on a tireless quest to quell the never-ebbing ache in his chest, he is lured by a clue into the capitol’s high-security prison where he stumbles upon the imprisoned Raeve …
Echoes of the past race between them.
There’s more to their story than meets the eye, but with dark fantasy elements woven through their tale, some truths are too poisonous to swallow.
"A wild ride that thrills as much as it enchants . . . This remarkable book is an instant classic.” — Thea Guanzon, New York Times bestselling author of The Hurricane Wars
“When The Moon Hatched breathes new, beautiful life into the genre, as Sarah A. Parker weaves lyrical prose with undeniable chemistry. I laughed, I cried, I got everything out of this. It’s an absolutely stunning fantasy world that everyone should sink their teeth into.” — Raven Kennedy, internationally bestselling author of The Plated Prisoner series
Reviews
So hard to read the first chapters. But worth it in the end
3By sandy drexelI put this down a dozen times. I only kept reading because I had bought it. Slowly it got better and I became more interested in the story. I hope the other books start better.Missed the mark
1By Kenzy pThe world did feel somewhat original for a modern "romantasy" but THE PACING IS SO BAD IM SORRY.LOVE!
5By Sadee_lynRefreshing & unique story, love it!!wow.
5By Sarahahre488Haven’t read a captivating romantasy like this one in genuinely years. Great world building, insane chemistry, and an interesting take on elemental powers. Dying to read more. When the Moon Hatched
2By PalatableDinnerTypical snarky female protagonist. Raeve felt overall very flat. The most interesting thing about her is the Other and they only show up twice briefly. The writing overexplains. The story drags, lacks an overall sense of direction, and spends way too much time on a racist trope that leads up to a would-be feminist speech about being able to fight for herself and her decision to wed or have kids, just for events to conclude with her getting rescued by a dude fighting another dude to the death for her. Much of the world building is changing words for the sake of changing words.Great story
5By AllyteePassionate, fast paced, heart wrenching. Very well written with a good twist or two along the way especially the epilogue. The audio book version was excellent also. If you liked ACOTAR and Fourth Wing you will love this.Amazing
5By blondbrat3669I loved it, it was amazing and I can’t wait for the next one.4/5
4By amcdavidGood read, surprising plot twists. World building was good, but confusing at times. A little forced with the diction. Looking forward to the storyline in the sequel.Wow
5By Romero0317Love love love !Stick with it
4By lynsbojFirst 150 pages are a bit painful- there's little context to the barrage of fantasy words and it's hard to track what's going on. After that it catches a stride and tells a complex story that you can rip through. Looking forward to the next book!Great read
5By Casseopia~Excited for the next.Chef’s kiss 💋
5By Soday0826Read it!Imagination Giant
5By RememberingPeteSarah has an imagination second to none and paints a world like no other. She exercises your mind and emotions in every paragraph. It will be very interesting to see where she takes this story in her next book. Her character building will have you thinking of them and what they themselves might do.Boring
2By KelticRainI tried to get through this book but I can’t finish it. It’s just so boring. It started out strong and intriguing but when the main character decided to just hang out in a jungle for several chapters, refusing to fix her amnesia I was done. World building is cool, main character is annoying.Fantastic Story!
5By InkbyashleyrAbsolutely fantastic read that had me immersed from the beginning!!! I couldn’t put this book down and now I absolutely cannot wait for book 2!So good I can’t wait for Book 2
5By HazelnuttiffTalk about leaving us in the dark! Such a good fantasy read. The world building is top notch. The author keeps you on your toes throughout the entire book. Love the visuals included! Other authors should take note the family tree, pronunciation guide and glossary were all so helpful. Made me appreciate the book even more. I need the second book ASAP, it’s going to be a long 13 months! When the Moon Hatched
5By aidan0421Characters and story were well developed and complex. A great story!Oh.My.Gosh.
5By Tini gammadaI’ve been reading novels for over 3 decades and this book ranks in my all time top five!! Masterfully written!Worth Every Moment
5By aonea11This book is amazing and very thoughtfully done. The writing is more artistic and higher level, not a breezy mindless read if you’re looking for something simple to unplug with. Some reviews state the writing is difficult to follow or convoluted, however I think the writing style matches the nature of the character and as the character develops and grows, the writing style becomes differs and matched the main character. So well done. The world building is beautiful, and the characters are constructed very well! I rarely read a series with only one book out and now I’m reminded why, u can’t wait for the second one to come!
