Description
Miss Jane Fairfield can't do anything right. When she's in company, she always says the wrong thing--and rather too much of it. No matter how costly they are, her gowns fall on the unfortunate side of fashion. Even her immense dowry can't save her from being an object of derision.
And that's precisely what she wants. She'll do anything, even risk humiliation, if it means she can stay unmarried and keep her sister safe.
Mr. Oliver Marshall has to do everything right. He's the bastard son of a duke, raised in humble circumstances--and he intends to give voice and power to the common people. If he makes one false step, he'll never get the chance to accomplish anything. He doesn't need to come to the rescue of the wrong woman. He certainly doesn't need to fall in love with her. But there's something about the lovely, courageous Jane that he can't resist...even though it could mean the ruin of them both.

Reviews
Unique and Amazing
5By Yvette Br.This book was amazing! I loved how unique Jane was and I loved Oliver with her. Especially the end when he realized he admired how she didn’t let society turn her into nothing. I loved Oliver’s family. I can’t wait to read Frees book. She sounds so interesting. The thing I love most about this book is that it’s truly unique a shows diversity. I really enjoyed the side story about Janes sister Emily and her love interest Anjan. I loved that he was Indian and the look into the discrimination he faced. I even liked the bits we learned about Oliver’s aunt and her struggles with leaving the house. This series is amazing and should have a much higher rating. Can’t wait to read more.4 stars
4By Samm.1Great characters good plot but kind of long winded... Found my self skimming a lot.Another great installment
5By ElevenissEnjoyed it immensely and looked forward to picking it up to read. It was my reward after tedious housework. If you get it in paperback, it's a good companion on the recumbent bike--best motivator to get to the gym!Love Bros Sinister
5By CliocheI've never been one to read romance novels, but I discovered this series in May (a vacation read) and read the first 2 books/novella in less than a week. Just finished Heiress Effect, which I read in 24 hrs. Can't wait for more!Just okay
2By TinleydThis book was disappointing because I really liked the first book in the series. I think the author writes well, but the plot line of this book was all over the place. I liked the very beginning and the end. The whole middle dragged.
