Description
Deputy U.S. Marshal Arliss Cutter and his partner brave the unforgiving, brutal Alaskan wilderness of snow and ice to save a government witness from cold-blooded assassins . . .
In the White Mountain Wilderness of Interior Alaska, twenty-four-year-old protected witness Sam Lujan is lonely for his old life. So much so, the young Apache not only breaks the cardinal rule of the Witness Protection Program—by revealing his whereabouts to his mother, he invites her to join him to see the Northern Lights. It’s her lifelong dream. No worries. It’ll be safe.
When Deputy U.S. Marshals Arliss Cutter and Lola Teariki discover Sam has gone missing, they’re asked to make a quick trip into the remote wild to make sure the witness is indeed protected. But there’s no such thing as a quick trip. Not when they’re plunging headlong into the frozen unknown at fifty-eight degrees below zero. And not when they aren’t the only ones searching. Valeria Kot, the vengeful daughter of the criminal Sam testified against, has been waiting and watching for years for just the opportunity to strike back. She’s found it—and has dispatched a sadistic hit squad to make sure Sam pays in the most savage way possible.
Once Arliss and Lola reach the trailhead it doesn’t take long for them to realize they’re dealing with more than a witness who’s broken protocol. Tracks in the snow and tell-tale signs signal an armed team—one that’s already a step ahead of them. For Arliss and Lola, and a desperate mother and son on the run, the death-defying, frigid temperatures are the least of their worries.
Reviews
Fluff and open ending of book
1By KnoxhopA lot of unneeded filler material. Much about super freezing temps impacting the bad guys but not the good guys. Open ending. No closure as to what happened to the bad boss back in New York. Or what happened to the witness protection guy and his mother. Worst book I’ve read in regards to Arlin’s Cutter series.Very weak!
1By DocsoffIn general, I like action books. They can be fun for a change of pace from work. This was simply awful. It read like it was written by AI with the interesting character function turned off. It was formulaic, the plot was disjointed, and the ending was simply boring. Look elsewhere for something better to read.Shute hope the series continues
5By shelby billWell written, well told. Love the characters and the Alaskan settings.Looking forward to the next book.
5By HRmacejLiked the Marvel style quick epilogue giving us a sneak peak into who or what Cutter might be dealing with next. There were a couple of loose ends of the plot that I wish would have been tied up. Overall though, can’t wait for the next book in this series to come out!Dead Line
5By gdjoinerWithout a doubt, the best free m the Best!Frost bite!

2By On air girlI’ve read this entire series and the books were great. This one is all over the place, seems to be a lot of unnecessary filler content too. Least favorite of the series.Forecast. Cold.
2By Battery223Good God the book was nothing but descriptors of how cold everything is. I guess this is Alaska it’s going to be freezing cold. Fuel is cold Turning to sludge, rubber is cold Turning to Stone, metal cold. All the talk about Fuel turning to jelly and then the end of the book 2 of the bad guys get on a Polaris snowmobile and it cranks right up in70 below. Josie wants to stop and look at the northern lights with killers behind them and it’s 100 below zero. Silly story line.Usually like these Cutter novels. This one was lame. Save your hard earned cold cash on this one.
