That, as he saw it now, was his life’s work: trying to make right what he’d gotten wrong. Wasn’t that a fair measure of a person, what they did with their mistakes?
In the jubilant aftermath of the Allied victory in Europe, Cal Jenkins, a man wounded not in war but by his inability to serve in it, shares a single, life-altering moment with Margaret Salt, a woman determined to outrun her past. Cal is married to Becky, whose spiritual gifts help the living speak to the dead, while Margaret’s husband, Felix, is serving at sea, believed to be safe—until a telegram suggests otherwise.
What begins as a fleeting transgression becomes a complex secret that irrevocably binds all four of them in unexpected ways. As their small Ohio town remakes itself in the postwar boom, the Salt and Jenkins families remain in each other’s orbit, and the consequences of choices made long ago begin to emerge, reshaping their lives in ways that will forever impact the next generation.
Sweeping yet intimate, resplendent with moments of deep emotion and unforgettable characters, Buckeye is a transportive story of love, loyalty, sacrifice, and forgiveness.

5By Left Out (objectivity)This book is an interesting read involving many flawed characters and their interwoven lives over several generations/decades. I thought the first 2/3 was more interesting, than there is a segment that seems to be a bit fast forward in order to get to a poignant and profound conclusion. Overall, I enjoyed the book and would recommend it.Truth
5By Don adoboI wanted to keep reading and reading! Deeply-real expressions of life and the challenges that come along with owning one’s actions! Thank youIf you grew up
5By rose0zDuring that era in Ohio/Columbus it brings back many memories. Especially if you shopped at Lazarus. Nice period piece and had a not expected theme within the story.Wow

3By Chasemax1I tired hard to enjoy this book, but I guess I just didn't like the story line.Tough to get through and depressing
3By molrudThis was a well written book, but by no means enjoyable. It dragged and dragged for me with no reward or happy ending.Epic
5By janetbethSuch a poignant tale of families, time moving forward and what we do with it. Or because of it.couldn’t stop reading
4By jasleenktit was hard to put this book down. the setting was laid out beautifully, and made you really feel like you were a part of the story itself, watching the characters’ stories unfold. got a little repetitive at some parts, but otherwise was a great book. if you enjoy historical fiction, this book is perfect for you!Sad
3By jhygedgvnktechurgIt was well written, but a sad book. Do not read if you are looking for something light hearted.Loss
5By Isi ReadsI loved each of the characters so much! The hurt and sadness that they all carried was so prevalent and made it so hard to be upset at any of them for the choices they made. Skip’s story brought me to tears. I will carry these characters for the time to come.Good
3By LP2007Good but the pace towards the finish was off. Also. Too many unclosed plots.Wonderful
5By MrsLevelThis book broke my heart and mostly put it back together again. Every character is written as if they are the main character. As the reader, I loved them all, even as they hurt each other with their imperfections.Buckeye
5By ? Not sureI love Jenna’s book suggestions, and this one didn’t disappoint. I liked that there were not a lot of characters and I felt I really got to know them. I loved picking up the book and continue reading wherever I was. I recommend this book.A little unbelievable
5By Pop Classic ReaderA little history. A little romance. A little steamy. A little silly. A LOT of great writing.Loved this book
5By rrclemmerI read at least 1 book every couple of weeks and I enjoyed this “old-fashioned book “ more than I have read in a couple years.Buckeye
5By Talker26Beautifully written, captivating story, a little bit too sad for me and the characters were all so slow to take action when needed. It was frustrating that all had this reluctance. Margaret! Not reason enough!Tedious
1By PjpeskiI don’t understand the rave reviews as I found it tedious. After trying for a full month to get deeply involved in the story I am putting it aside unfinished.Loved it
5By msbcnjA really good read. Intertwining lives of some folks who live in a small fictional town in Ohio. Spanning about 60 years from childhoods in the 1920’s through early older adulthood in the 1980’s. Full of love and heartbreak.
