Description

The bitter rantings of an underground poet driven out of San Francisco and into a low-income subsidized rental in a crime-infested, drug-addled neighborhood in Concord, California.

The patient has lost both his security guard "career" and three successive rent-controlled, sub-standard basement dwellings in San Francisco. He has lost all his lovers and is alienated from his successful family. He creates this set of poems as a way to attempt to make sense of his debased condition.

All of his worst personality traits come out, and there is no saving him in talk therapy, support groups or Christian churches; and he is already rejected by the elites of both political parties because of his continual ideological disloyalty and refusal to flatter "the real men" of the conservative movement or to pander to the "marginalized peoples" of the liberal movement. Outcast in every way, and of no worldly use to anyone, he has no other outlet than to produce a set of short screeds which he attempts to pass off as poetry.
