Description

“They took everything he loved. Now he’ll take everything they have.” They destroyed his life. Now they’ve created their worst enemy. Will Stark had everything—a billion-dollar tech empire, a brilliant wife and son, and a future he’d built from the ground up. Then came the fire. The slaughter. The near-death beating. A brutal, calculated strike… meant for someone else. It was supposed to be a clean hit. But they missed. Pulled from the wreckage by a rogue trio with secrets of their own, Will is thrust into a shadow war between rival factions of an ancient society known as the Aliomenti—puppet masters of power, wealth, and human evolution. Their technology defies explanation. Their reach is global. And they believe Will is dead. He’s not. He’s evolving. As Will learns to unlock dormant abilities and master forces that blur the line between science and sorcery, he must navigate a deadly new world of espionage, betrayal, and impossible choices. Driven by grief, powered by purpose, he’ll seek the truth behind the Aliomenti’s lies—and become something they never saw coming. Fast-paced. Mind-bending. Emotionally charged. Fans call A Question of Will “unputdownable,” “brilliantly plotted,” and “the beginning of an unforgettable journey.” If you love high-tech thrillers with heart, conspiracies with teeth, and heroes who rise from the ashes, this is the series for you.

This was a really good book, not high excitement adventure but a good story. Good guys against bad guys, but the good guys keep lying. There are some pretty good twist and turns.

Need lots of popcorn cuz at the end of this great read it got rather mind-boggling. Loving mind twisters this went just a little beyond even my comprehension. Almost. Still an enjoyable series to continue with to sort out what really happens when Will and Hope finally do meet. Curiosity got the cat in this instance. KSW

Very entertaining introduction to a fascinating sci fi world. I am struck by dystopian futures and this is one of the best, although, I'm not sure it will remain in the dystopian genre at least in my mind. The story is engaging, the characters fascinating and well developed (for the most part,) and I'm sure will become more so as the story progresses, even though the next part of the story is a thousand years in the past. I look forward to more plot and character development, as well as finding more about the two organizations that are somewhat sparsely described in this the first part of a long (hopefully) series.

I found this book via Bookbub. I liked the story description and it was free so I figured why not? I finished it and immediately bought book 2. I didn't care how much, I just had to have it. I just can't believe how lucky I am to have found this book. There is very little of this book I didn't like. Well paced, good story, great characters. I was able to predict who some of the characters actually were, but that only made the story that much more enjoyable. I love stories that travel back and forth in time, but if the author fails to keep things straight, the story suffers. This author obviously took time to make sure the story's timeline was flawless. I can't wait to start reading book two.

A new author for me.. In my early years (teens) I read a lot of science fiction. Andre Norton, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Isaac Asimov, Robert Heinlein & others. As I grew older ( now 71), I drifted away from that genre into authors of mystery & related fiction like David Baldacci, Steve Berry, Lee Child, Robert Crais, Barry Isler, Vince Flynn, Hillerman, Ludlum, Greg Iles, J A Vance, Metzler, Doug Preston, Robert Wayne White, Robert Parker, Grisham, Sanford, Silva & others. I really enjoyed this return to the future. So much sci-fi became sci-fantasy & to far fetched. Alex has spun a very entertaining tale that I found hard to put down until finished. I definitely will read the rest of the series.. Ron S

The book started out well, but lost its way, becoming muddled and confusing. The ending lacked any plausibility.

The description of the book was interesting and I think it that the author met my expectations. The only reason I did't give it a 5 star rating was it got a tad confusing in the middle of the book with characters relationships and developing Wills "Energy". But I liked the plot and the suspense well enough to get the next book to see how Will mets his future wife and the evil "Leader". I have been a fan of people using the "force" or in this case "energy" to meet the antagonists. The book is worth the price and prove to be something enjoyable on a rainy day!

Overall, this is a good series. It has a nice concept. I can't wait for it to come together and reconcile the main character.

This is an incredible start to a series. A man comes home, trying to prevent the murder of his wife and child - and then all the wildness begins. There are two opposing groups similar to the Illuminati who battle across the world with their powers seeking one man - Will Stark. The plot to this book is so Byzantine it's almost scary. With fabulous characters, tons of action, vivid imagination, and advanced high tech this was one of those books you finish in a single sitting. Recommended highly!

I was skeptical at first but just after reading the prologue I was sucked into a whole new world in the near future full of science fiction, adventure, and much more! I am thinking of purchasing the second book, Preserving Hope, as the first ibook I spent my money on. Anyway, it's a short review but the book is a very good read and after a couple of chapters it will be hard to put down.
