This author’s biggest failing is the complete inability to write female characters. Jess: the only words that ever come out of her mouth are “I told you so” and spilling very intimate information about her friends. No woman would actually be friends with a person like this. Fallon: interesting until she makes the mistake of allowing Brody to kiss her, and then turns into a complete sap. 100% change in the character’s personality. Absolutely no consistency. Amethyst: a total prude for some of the things she supposedly did in her sexual history. Again, completely inconsistent personality. No grown woman blushes. It just doesn’t happen, unless they have some kind of social anxiety. These women are written like children, but we’re supposed to view them as adults.

A few too many huh(?) moments and "oh this is stupid" instances to consider this better than simply mediocre. I did appreciate this was more than 1 story in the package. The backstory fills in as you get through the 3rd story. There are just too many unexplained things earlier that make the reader feel as if they'd missed an earlier book(s). Also note the epilogue in the first occurs in timeline after the beginning of book 2. So people you think have met, based on the end of 1, haven't at the beginning of 2. Just a wee bit confusing.

I couldn't even make it through half of the first book. Jessica, the "heroine", was by far the most unlikeable character ever.
