- Release Date: 2013-12-04
- Genre: Biographies & Memoirs
Description
This edition of Livingstone's last journals detail his search for the source of the River Nile and continue right up until his death. Livingstone writes of his explorations, the local people, challenges and successes. It includes over 40 illustrations and a map of his travels. Edited by Horace Waller, it could not have been completed without the papers, field journals and letters carried over 1,000 miles by Chuma, who had been freed from slavers by Livingstone when he was a boy, and Susi, who had been employed as a wood cutter on the second Zambezi expedition. The publication of his journals helped build the image of an intrepid hero, as Livingstone's legacy grew after his death.
