Description

Love always comes with a price.

After the murder of a dirty Los Angeles detective St. Louis Alexander aka Lou-Loc found himself a hunted man. Trying to stay one step ahead of the gas chamber he flees to New York to try and pick up the pieces of his life.

Fate throws him a curveball when he meets Satin Angelino and finds himself head-over-heels in love. Satin is young, fine and keeping a secret that could cost him his life.

In 2002 K’wan hit the scene with his debut novel Gangsta. What started as a therapeutic release went on to become a part of urban-lit history and an Essence bestseller. Over a decade after its original release Gangsta is back and in digital form for the very first time.

This book was a page turner. My boyfriend told me about this book he had read by K'wan. He described it but, he forgot the name of the book. He said he really likes this author and his writing style. I went online and pulled up several books by K'wan that fit the description. That's when I came across "Gangsta". Within two hours of my boyfriend telling me about this author I had bought the book (well what I thought was the book he described)on iBooks and I was already 2 hours deep into the book. He called to check on me and I thanked him for telling me about this author. I told him I purchased the book "Gangsta" and it is a page turner so far. He said, "bae it was titled Hoodlum"! Which made me even more happy because I get to purchase another page turner and I informed him about this good read πŸ€—πŸ™ƒ. This book definitely hit home because Lou-Loc's personality, some of his statements, lots of his choice words, his character, intellect, past and present reminds me of my man. And, Satin reminds me of myself. He and I are totally opposite but, he has turned his life around enormously and he did it before it was too late. Although this book is fictional there is lots of facts and reality that people can relate to. Thank you K'wan for being an amazing writer and writing about real life events that do take place πŸ’›
