deeply harrowing, mystically entrancing, and incredibly well-written, The Dream Thieves may be more violent and mature than its predecessor, but with good reason; it’s Ronan Lynch’s tale, and Ronan Lynch is a far darker soul than any of the other characters herein.

Being completely honest- the writing/plot of this book is an absolute wreck at times that can confuse its purpose and morals…As a fan of The Raven Boys, this sequel came as a bit of a let down, however- it is definitely not enough to make me want to quit reading!!!! [Content warning for drugs, alcohol and mercenaries, too.]

This book was okay, but it used a lot of foul language. If you are looking to stray away from drugs, alcohol, and swearing, this is not your book. If you don’t mind those things, give it a try. I recommend this book for anyone fourteen or older.

The dynamics between the characters and their own personal development create an enrapturing environment and an impossible to put down read. Personalities and character faults are brought to light, Adam Parrish with his pride and behavior towards those who love and wish to care for him a prime example. Hope is restored in others with Ronan’s desperate endeavors to please Gansey and his younger brother. And new dynamics are revealed, Kavinsky’s spicy relationship with Ronan and Blue and Gansey’s developing crush on the other. All these aspects and more come together to be Maggie Stiefvater’s beautiful second story, a must read.

I loved The Raven Boys, but Ronan was like a nasty nightmare I kept wanting to wake up from...by the time I finished The Dream Thieves, he had become one of my favorite characters. I've read a great many books in my 46 years, and rarely if ever have I encountered a character so complex and paradoxical, and strangely appealing, in spite of himself, as Ronan Lynch. Maggie Stiefvater's writing is astonishing. Not a sentence is wasted, and every single detail matters. The quality and depth of this series is phenomenal.

I stayed up till 2, 3, and 4 in the morning (respectively) three consecutive nights in a row because I couldn't put this series down. The characters are so real, the mysteries so thrilling, the magic so exciting, and thee writing so beautiful...The Raven Cycle is a must-read.

The second book in the raven boys series is absolutely breath taking as secrets unfold and impossible magic takes place...as well as hopeless love as blue becomes more and more attached to-more then one raven boy 😉 I am dying for the third book in the raven boys series!

The Raven Cycle is arguably Maggie Stiefvater's best work yet. The characters are hilarious and sarcastic, especially Blue and Gansey. One of my all-time favorites!!! I love you, Maggie!
