Description

In his twisty, gritty, profoundly moving New York Times bestselling-debut—also called “mandatory reading” and selected as an Editors' Choice by the New York Times—Adam Silvera brings to life a charged, dangerous near-future summer in the Bronx.

In the months after his father's suicide, it's been tough for sixteen-year-old Aaron Soto to find happiness again—but he's still gunning for it. With the support of his girlfriend Genevieve and his overworked mom, he's slowly remembering what that might feel like. But grief and the smile-shaped scar on his wrist prevent him from forgetting completely.

When Genevieve leaves for a couple of weeks, Aaron spends all his time hanging out with this new guy, Thomas. Aaron's crew notices, and they're not exactly thrilled. But Aaron can't deny the happiness Thomas brings or how Thomas makes him feel safe from himself, despite the tensions their friendship is stirring with his girlfriend and friends. Since Aaron can't stay away from Thomas or turn off his newfound feelings for him, he considers turning to the Leteo Institute's revolutionary memory-alteration procedure to straighten himself out, even if it means forgetting who he truly is.

Why does happiness have to be so hard?

“Silvera managed to leave me smiling after totally breaking my heart. Unforgettable.”
—Becky Albertalli, author of Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda

"Adam Silvera explores the inner workings of a painful world and he delivers this with heartfelt honesty and a courageous, confident hand . . . A mesmerizing, unforgettable tour de force."
—John Corey Whaley, National Book Award finalist and author of Where Things Come Back and Noggin

I downloaded the sample and didn’t like it. I waited a few weeks then decided to give it a try. It’s really good.

This book left me in tears. It was a beautiful telling, you could empathize with Aaron’s situation, even if you aren’t exactly like him. I came into this book looking for a gay love story like his other book “What if it’s Us?”. Also tied for best book ever, in my opinion. But, in return i got a love story, a story of sadness, finding happiness, a story of many many plot twists (that left me jaw dropped), and so much more. This book is a MUST read!!!!

In More Happy than Not, readers are sucked into the world of Aaron and make startling realizations as they move on. Finishing the book, emotional, raw, and heartbreaking, readers have to reflect: At what point will they go for their definition of happiness?

I loved this book! It's very similar to Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, but this book is way better! If you're having trouble with being gay then this book may be relatable. Seriously such a good read. Read it in a day. I love it!

I read this book in two days and cried for who knows how long. I still cry when I think about it!!! But I just totally related to this story which made it even more sad. I've dealt with my own battles being in the LGBT+ people. This was a harsh story since I just wanted Thomas and Aaron to be together!! I think my favorite character was Me-Crazy; plenty in common. XD the whole deal with Collin got me all angsty too. ;-; the end was the greatest tear jerker but this is by far my favorite book I have ever read. Congratulations to the author to creating such an amazing story that may send people like me on an adventure like the characters in the book. Learning to find out who you are and most definitely accepting it. :) that's all of the pros which out numbers my measly con. When Aaron was doing the Leteo Procedure and they went to the past and suddenly jumped to the present I was totally confused, of course I got back on track and fulfilled my earned sobs at the end. If only there was a 6 star option! I definitely encourage anyone to read this. It's so good!!!
