Description

From USA Today bestselling author, Leslie Langtry comes a mystery series of laugh-out-loud proportions...

When CIA agent Merry Wrath is "accidentally" outted, she's forced her into early retirement, changes her appearance, and moves where no one will ever find her—Iowa. Instead of black bag drops in Bangkok, she now spends her time leading a young Girl Scout troop. But Merry's new simple life turns not-so-simple when an enemy agent shows up dead at scout camp. Suddenly Merry is forced to deal with her former life in order to preserve her future one.

It doesn't help matters that the CIA sends in her former, sexy handler to investigate…or that the hot new neighbor across the street turns out to be the local detective in charge of her case. And when Merry is forced to take on a roommate in the voluptuous form of a turned KGB agent/bimbo, things become trickier than wet work in Waukegan or cookie sales in the spring. Nothing in the CIA or Girl Scouts' training manuals has prepared her for what comes next…

I loved this book! It combined two of my favorite things in a book, humor and a mystery! What happens when a CIA agent has to go into hiding and becomes a "soccer mom" type? Chaos, humor, a Girl Scout troop & a dead assassin(& romance!)! I loved the whole idea of the book and can't wait to read the next one "Mint Cookie Murder" which will be out soon! Read this one while waiting for it...you won't regret it!

Merry Wrath is a former undercover CIA agent until her cover is blown and she barely makes it out of enemy territory alive. As a result, she is given a tidy settlement and a new identity in a small town Iowa suburbia. Along with her best friend since childhood, Kelly, she is now a Girl Scout leader for a troop of six and seven year olds. That is until she finds the dead body of one of the top al-Qaeda operatives at the scouting camp. Is this connected to Merry's prior life or just a coincidence? Before her former supervisor, Riley, can work this out, another dead hitman shows up and now not only is Merry scrambling for answers but she also has to avoid all the news reporters surrounding her home. I loved this book and really enjoyed the humoristic take with this mystery. Merry is really funny and Kelly is great....she keeps showing up to help out her friend and brings casseroles because that's what good guests do. And then there is Lana, the female Russian turncoat and blonde bombshell who shows up on Merry's doorstep seeking asylum. A fun read with a touch of mystery. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Disclosure: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
  • A Fun and Twist-filled Romp

All the skills that made Merry Wrath a stellar CIA - skilled sharpshooter, ability to withstand torture, knowing how to kill someone with a straw - are proving to be less than helpful in controlling her Girl Scout Troop of ten year old girls. Following the Girl Scout manual and telling the girls that the body of the assassin she just discovered is a "cute, baby, dead assassin" does not seem as effective as when applied to encounters with scary spiders, bat, or a mouse. It seems that Merry's former life is intruding on her current one, Until she was burned by the staff of a vengeful Vice President, Fionnaghuala Merrygold Wrath Czrygy, Finn loved being a CIA covert operative. Once her cover was blown and she became the target of international assassins, Finn had no choice but to go into hiding and decided to return to her hometown in Iowa. Although the newly renamed Merry has only shared the secret of her past life with her best friend Kelly, it seems that someone has seen through Merry's disguise of colored contacts and bleached blond hair and begun dropping the bodies of famous international killers on her doorstep. This brings back into Merry's life her charmingly handsome surfer-dude handler Riley Andrews as well as introducing Finn to her new next door neighbor, the even more handsome Detective Rex Ferguson. Less fun is Riley forcing Merry to take on a new roommate, the defecting sex bombshell and former KGB agent Svetlana Babilova. While I thought that I had the whole mystery figured out, the author of the Greatest Hits mystery series completely surprised me with the perfect twist. The humor is as clever and fun as the action-filled plot, and what is so enjoyable is just how competent an agent Merry proves to be. Her friend Kelly also provides intelligent and effective support with her background in nursing, and their friendship is just as interesting as the romantic triangle that develops between Merry, Rex, and Riley. This is a thorp toughly enjoyable mystery thriller that balances the humor with the action and romance. Extremely well-written, this very fun mystery stays within the realm of believability but entertains with its wit, laughs, and charm.

Leslie Langtry is a fantastic author! She writes about characters that are fun to read about. She makes me laugh out loud when I read any of her books. This one is no exception! Merry Wrath is tough and amusing! She is a former CIA agent, forced into retirement when her identity was released, but that didn't mean that she would end her adventures! Someone tried to frame her for murder of a couple of really bad guys! A surprise ending when who it is revealed! Great book! Highly recommend this book or any Leslie Lantry book!

Merry was a CIA operative before she was outed by the Vice President of the United States. This caused her to be let go and she was awarded enough money not to have to work for awhile. While on a trip with her Girl Scout Troop, she came across the body of a dead man. The Number 4 most-wanted man in the al-Qaeda. This book is so laugh-out-loud funny that I practically read the whole story to my sister while we were on a camping trip. She kept wanting to know what was so funny! I hope I don't have to wait too long for the next book in the series!

I received an ARC eBook in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book I have read by this talented author and I just loved it! A great mystery loaded with lots of laughs, one ex-CIA Agent, two gorgeous hunks, a Girl Scout troop, a Russian Blonde Bimbo and dead terrorists! I laughed out loud and couldn't put it down as the intrigue and suspense escalated! I loved every second of this first book in the Merry Wrath Mysteries! I highly recommend this book and anything Leslie Langtry writes!!
