Description

Buying a gun to kill your wife: $3,000
Hiring Trauma Care to clean afterward: $1,500
Having that same cleaner uncover evidence that frames you: Priceless

On her way to completing a degree in forensic science, Gabby St. Claire drops out of school and starts her own crime scene cleaning business. “Yeah, that’s me,” she says, “a crime scene cleaner. People waiting in line behind me who strike up conversations always regret it.”

When a routine cleaning job uncovers a murder weapon the police overlooked, she realizes that the wrong person is in jail. But the owner of the weapon is a powerful foe . . . and willing to do anything to keep Gabby quiet.

With the help of her new neighbor, Riley Thomas, a man whose life and faith fascinate her, Gabby plays the detective to make sure the right person is put behind bars. Can Riley help her before another murder occurs?

“Christy Barritt’s novel, Hazardous Duty, is a delightful read from beginning to end. The story’s fresh, engaging heroine with an unusual occupation hooked me, and I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend Hazardous Duty.”

I really liked this book. The crime scene aspect. And the fact that Riley the main character isn’t perfect. She’s exasperating to the two men in the book. I’d definitely recommend it. And love to read more stories about them.

This crime scene cleaner is more of a crime scene investigator! She is feisty and stubborn. Shame the cops don’t cooperate. Great read and wonderful characters.

Hazardous Duty is a suspenseful mystery by Christy Barritt. Gabby St. Clare is a crime scene cleanup specialist. She brings expertise to her job, via her training; she almost completed her coursework for a degree in forensic science. While Gabby is cleaning a murder incident location, she discovers a vital piece of evidence that was apparently missed by the local police. Or was it? Gabby doesn’t have it in her to give up before justice is served, and she persistenly tries to do her part to bring justice for the victim. I will not give away any spoilers, but suffice it to say that it was an adrenaline-pumping mystery, and I look forward to reading more of Christy Barritt’s books. I worked in the criminal justice system for many years, and I am quite picky about the authors to whom I return. I cannot abide mysteries that are unrealistic, cliched or predictable. Hers are none of these. She is a gifted writer. PS if anyone from the Hallmark Channel © happens to see this, you guy should pick up options on some of her books for your mystery movies. Barrit’s writing is suspenseful, wholesome and integrates the protagonists’ Christian faith into the stories, without being at all preachy.

Loved the book!!! No bad language. No sex. Great conversations about God! Kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next thing to happen and trying to figure out 'who done it'. Was even impressed with the proofreading. Someone did a great job!! It's very distracting, as a former proofreader, to enjoy a story with typos, grammatical errors, etc. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

How often do we find a "squeaky clean" e-book? Answer: Not very! I stumbled on this one and couldn't put it down. I loved the suspense, romance, and realness of the characters. Very relatable and the Christian theme interwoven made it a double hit for me!
