Description

I found optics difficult to learn during my training, and I also learned that I am not alone. Today, I teach optics, and I see the challenges of doctors attempting to learn this difficult topic. From these experiences, I hope that I can bring some clarity to you by bringing clinical concepts and optical principles together.

This small book is not a comprehensive book to teach you clinical optics. It is a book to help you review concepts you already know and understand, and most importantly, it is a book that helps you apply the physics you’ve learned in college with the optic concepts you’ve learned in your residency. The book also covers the optics of the instruments used in your office every day.

These pages will hopefully help you answer questions such as, “why is the sky blue?”, “What is that funny flashlight with 4 lights used for?”,   “What is a Geneva  lens clock?”, and  “What is the purpose of the red striated lens in your lens case?
