Description

As the edge of winter slices through fall, Josie Bates and Archer reluctantly abandon a trail that has gone cold in their search for Hannah Sheraton and Billy Zuni, teenagers on the run from the law that can't guarantee their safety. Determined to stay one step ahead of the authorities who want Billy back and a blood feud that will only be satisfied when he is dead, Hannah and Billy head north. There they will hunker down in the darkest corner of earth they can find and wait for the danger to pass.
Though the journey is treacherous, they finally find themselves isolated, safe, and as far from Hermosa Beach as they can get. But Hannah's relief is short lived. When the perpetual winter dark turns to inky black, they realize they've taken refuge in hell. Now the fight in front of her and Billy is not only for their lives, but their very souls.

Love the Witness series! The Dark Witness is much different than the others. It follows Hannah and Billy to the Alaskan wilderness where they hitch a ride with a drunken truck driver. Of course there is a crash and what comes next is a little far fetched but still a gripping thriller and very entertaining! It see-saws back in forth between 3rd person and 1st person with Hannah’s thoughts acting as narration. You won’t want to miss this one!

Rebecca Forster creates characters that are so sympathetic you’ll believe that somewhere, somehow, they really exist. And the bad guys? You’ll pray they don’t. Hannah Sheraton is one of the good guys, the 17 year old ward of lawyer, Josie Bates. The rollercoaster ride that is Hannah’s young life, particularly in this last book in the Witness series, “Dark Witness,” had me unreservedly in her corner, hoping for the best and fearing the worst. Josie, Archer, Hannah, and even young Billy Zuni are compelling characters, masterfully written by Forster. I highly recommend the entire Witness series, with this caveat: Be prepared to take your own ride as you share a part of their lives. Lawrence Standifer Stevens

I've been an attorney for 40 years now. Over the last six weeks I've read the entire series. I would have through that the author was also an attorney by the nature of the subjects and points of law she interjects. From her website I see she's not. But she could have been. No two books are he same. They are not formulae and their characters are people that you can truly care about. She has made some outstanding points about the law and where and how mistakes are made in our system. Her topics won't be found in any other authors books. Each book has a theme and purpose which explains what's wrong with the system. While they are all stand alone books the are outstanding as a series.
